“Let’s get back to basics promoting domestic partnership which is desired and supported by all who are gay and straight!”
Dear Editor:
Robert Dekoven with his usual weekly commentary seems to continue his extreme liberal, socialist agenda that reflects but a small group in the local gay community! For someone who preaches tolerance is very intolerant to others out side his political circle. His criticism of the city council’s not supporting the extreme same sex marriage bills in Sacramento is intolerant to what others believe to be true to them, gay or straight! The gay marriage movement is not backed by most in the the gay community, only the very few who tend to be emotional and insecure keep pushing the politicians into believing that we are victims of society, and unless they bend our way we will continue some sort of attack on them! Well I along with others in the community support the city and others in none recognition of these bills. Let’s get back to basics promoting domestic partnership which is desired and supported by all who are gay and straight!

“As the efforts of Aguirre and Hartline to close GLBT businesses continues … all gay San Diegans should be concerned that this is an issue that touches on gay rights and privileges – which always are fragile in America.
Dear Editor:
My partner and I enjoyed the San Diego Pride Festival and Parade. As we watched the parade we were surprised that there must have been thirty uniformed police officers marching in the parade. There was Chief Landsdowne, the under chiefs and many of the men and women officers. Missing however were the undercover officers wearing only towels who continue to serve their shifts in our well established GLBT businesses looking for consensual sex between adults while violent street crime in our community is rampant. Also missing were City Attorney Michael Aguirre and self proclaimed repaired gay and city council candidate James Hartline who are responsible for police singling out our businesses while ignoring straight owned businesses well known for their sexual activity. As the efforts of Aguirre and Hartline to close GLBT businesses continues, leaving Lieutenant Margaret Schaufelberger, the department’s liaison to the LGBT community, scrambling for excuses, all gay San Diegans should be concerned that this is an issue that touches on gay rights and privileges – which always are fragile in America.

“I wanted to say thanks [to Mike Aguirre] for sending undercover police into gay businesses, thanks for closing the 2200 Club, thanks for befriending local homophobe and exconvict James Hartline and thanks for assisting the bigots of San Diego.”
Dear Editor:
What’s a girl to do? I patiently stood in the hot sun with my basket of ripe tomatoes watching the Pride Parade go by but no Mike Aguirre. Some of my friends had received the city attorney’s request for campaign donations and I was ready with my donation. I wanted to say thanks for sending undercover police into gay businesses, thanks for closing the 2200 Club, thanks for befriending local homophobe and exconvict James Hartline and thanks for assisting the bigots of San Diego. They say that a politician runs on his record and that is why I wanted to make a donation. My donation is not greenbacks like last time but red ripe tomatoes. No Aguirre did not deserve greenbacks but he did deserve the tomatoes.

“As for the businesses (bars) along the parade route displaying Todd Gloria signs....Nicole, as well as myself know the 3 individuals who put them up!!”
Dear Editor:
I am writing in response to the “anointing” of Todd Gloria by Nicole in her column last week. Unless I am mistaken our new District 3 Councilmember will be elected by votes, not $$$’s and the election is still a year away.
Nicole naturally failed to mention that Stephen Whitburn was overwhelmingly endorsed by the San Diego Democratic Club in June, on the first ballot, as well as being endorsed by Councilmember and friend of the community Donna Frye.
Stephen Whitburn walked the entire Pride Parade route shaking hands the entire time, as well as meeting, greeting and answering questions in his booth at the festival both Sat. and Sun. I didn’t observe that Todd Gloria had a booth at Pride, but did overhear him say why.
As for the businesses (bars) along the parade route displaying Todd Gloria signs....Nicole, as well as myself know the 3 individuals who put them up!!
I believe the ENTIRE District 3 will choose the right candidate, not just Hillcrest.

“The only life that Hartline has turned around is that of Michael Aguirre who will be leading a new life after the same GLBT community that elected him to office throws him out at the next election.”
Dear Editor:
No Nicole, James Hartline has not turned his life around. He continues to blame everyone but himself for his life of crime and promiscuity. Turning your life around begins when you accept responsibility for your mistakes and truly seek forgiveness. The only life that Hartline has turned around is that of Michael Aguirre who will be leading a new life after the same GLBT community that elected him to office throws him out at the next election. Hartline has convinced Aguirre that victimless crimes between consenting adults are more important than violent street crime. And no, Nicole, Aguirre’s undercover police have not been looking for illegal drugs, prostitution or other crimes in LGBT businesses. The only crime they are looking for is sexual activity between consenting adults. Read the police reports and the court records.
