FILM
No End in Sight
Writer/director Charles Ferguson chronicles U.S. policy and military occupation of Iraq focusing on the disbanding of the Iraqi military, the purge of Iraqi government professionals, and the looting of Bagdad. Ferguson argues that the incompetence and recklessness of U.S. leadership can explain the failure of U.S. policy in Iraq and the country’s fall into civil war.
Colma: The Musical
Richard Wong’s debut film is a musical about the life of a gay teen in the closet and living in a town known for its many cemeteries. H.P. Mendoza wrote the screenplay, music and lyrics for the film and plays its star character, Rodel.
Goya’s Ghosts
Francisco Goya, considered by many to be both “the father of modern art” and one of the last “old masters,” is depicted in this film directed by Milos Forman. The painter is portrayed by Stellan Skarsgard. The film captures the style and mood of Goya’s paintings and takes place at the end of the Spanish Inquisition. The story follows Goya’s involvement with a poet named Ines.
