Hillcrest Game Night: The Hillcrest Centennial Celebration continues. Bring your favorite board game, puzzle or a deck of cards for euchre, bridge, hearts, spades or poker (don’t forget the chips!). Hillcrester John Semerau will debut his new creation, Hillcrest-opoly. Card tables will be set up and snacks will be provided .... You supply the players! Bill Cosby: One of the world’s favorite actors, writers, and fathers, Bill Cosby, will take the stage at Viejas Concerts in the Park. Cosby, most known for his comedic role as Dr. Huxtable, makes honest observations on life in all of his work. His humor promises to be thought provoking and will keep the audience laughing. Secrets of a Gay Marine Porn Star: Rich Merritt will be signing his book Secrets of a Gay Marine Porn Star at the Gaslamp Borders book store in downtown from noon to 3 p.m. Secrets of a Gay Marine Porn Star is about friends – Marines and sailors – who will do anything to protect their group from an onslaught of betrayals at the highest levels of government, double-dealing in the media, blackmail and political corruption. San Diego Women’s Drum Circle: Women Drummers of San Diego gather on the first Saturday of each month to share and exchange rhythmic energy. Prior to each month’s drum circle, instructor Elisa offers a drum class for $8 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The class will take participants on a journey introducing technique, while teaching the group about the history of the rhythms. Drums are available for loan or purchase. The Women’s Drum Circle follows from 7-9 p.m. for a donation of $5. Hillcrest Farmers Market: A popular San Diego tradition for more than 10 years, the Hillcrest Farmers Market is a great way to start a Sunday morning. A number of vendors selling fresh produce, baked goods, crafts, apparel, home-furnishings and more, make this farmers market one of the most popular in town. Sponsored by the Hillcrest Business Association since 1997, this weekly outdoor marketplace is a member of the California Federation of Certified Farmers Markets. The Hillcrest Farmers Market happens every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine, near the DMV on Normal Street at Lincoln Avenue. 619-299-3330

Noches Calientes: Finish off the summer right with Noches Calientes Latin night at Urban Mo’s. This fun, popular night includes dancing with DJ Fariba, and a weekly Las Vegas style drag show. Some of San Diego’s finest drag talent is featured in the 10:30 p.m. show. Bud Light drafts are only $1.50 throughout the night. Noches Calientes runs from 9 p.m. to close, with a cover charge of $7. The Latin night will follow Mo’s “Recovery Party,” which starts at 2 p.m., as a way to recover from the busy holiday weekend. As You Like It: Come experience William Shakespeare’s timeless comedy of love set in the Forest of Arden. As You Like It features much humorous and clever wordplay, occasioned by chance encounters in the forest, and several entangled love affairs. Tickets for the show, which is playing at the Coronado Playhouse, are free, however they must be requested in advance. Guys, Games & Grub: The next “Guys, Games & Grub” event will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 5 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at The Center. This free event is open to all men ages 21 and older and is presented by The Center’s Men’s Advisory Committee. Gentle Yoga: The Center and Silver Age Yoga Community Outreach (SAYCO) present Gentle Yoga. SAYCO’s mission is to improve the health and overall well-being of all seniors, regardless of age, physical ability, or financial status. The class is free and all are welcome. Yoga can benefit all, regardless of physical condition.
