Yog-art in the heart of Hillcrest has been a hit ever since it opened its doors a few months back. The contemporary frozen yogurt shop, with hip night-club lounge décor, specializes in serving fresh non-fat Korean frozen yogurt in a variety of tart and fruity flavors.

With only 25 calories per ounce, Yog-art offers quality, fresh ingredients with minimal-sugar and promises to deliver a guilt-free experience.

Not only are the traditional yogurt flavors, such as vanilla and chocolate served, but Yog-art rotates nearly 20 tart and fruity flavors every other day. The shop also offers a wide variety of fresh fruit toppings, along with a variety of nuts and granola. There are also several soy-based toppings and other rare add-ons, many with an Asian influence.

The establishment also serves up a variety of drinks, including exotic coffees, teas and unusual fruit-blend smoothies.

The owners, Tri Huynh, Thuy Mai, Hannah Pham and Hien Vuong, are four young entrepreneurs and recent college graduates. Inspired by a concept in Los Angeles, the partners, combined their assets with a small business loan, which they said has given them a great start.

Because it is open late, the shop is constantly busy and often over spilling with the crowds of patrons enjoying Hillcrest nightlife. Yog-art boasts many of the same comforts as a contemporary coffee shop and customers are encouraged to pull up a chair and play a board game while enjoying a decadent dessert.

“The atmosphere is very modern and pristine but casual, inviting the customer to indulge themselves in a game of checkers or chess, to relax and watch a movie, or avail themselves of Wi-Fi,” the owners said.
