Cinema en tu idioma: As part of its “Countdown to 15” program, the San Diego Latino Film Festival presents DRAMA/MEX. This Mexican film is a bitter-sweet telling of three intense human relationships stories that are interlaced during one night in contemporary Acapulco. Once upon a time a luxurious port, now in decay, Acapulco serves as a background for a suicidal old man, a 15-year-old runaway girl, and a young couple who face the hardships of separation after a tragic break up. The film will show glimpses of a night that will change their lives. Produced by Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna, DRAMA/MEX will run from Oct. 19-25 with 11 a.m., 4:30 p.m., and 10 p.m. showtimes. The Crucible: In celebration of the one-year anniversary of San Diego’s popular Military Madness Night, The Crucible is coming to town! The party includes six events, held over three days, for “one incredible weekend.” Events include “The Brig” at Rich’s on Friday night with a live performance by Billboard Recording Artist AMUKA, a foam party at Bacchus House from 2-10 a.m. following “The Brig” event, a mega-party at Club Montage on Saturday night from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m., featuring a special appearance by porn star Brent Everett, and three parties held at private estates. The entire weekend is jam-packed with good music, hot go-go boys, live appearances and fun. All events are for those 21 years and older. Burgers, Balls & Buns: To gain community support for its upcoming season, and to help offset expenses of preparation and transportation to the 2008 Bingham Cup in Dublin, the San Diego Armada Rugby Team will host a “Burgers, Balls, & Buns” fund-raiser. The event, which will be held at The Hole, will include a bachelor auction including several members of the team (gay and straight) who will be auctioned off to the highest bidder for dinner dates. Also, a number of items that have been donated by local businesses and restaurants will be raffled off. Tasty burgers, cooked and served by Armada team members, will be available. The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence will emcee the event which will be held from 7-10 p.m. The team encourages the community to come out and support “your local ruggers – who knows, you might just take one home!” The Hole is located at 2820 Lytton St. in Pt. Zombie Prom: Grease meets Little Shop of Horrors in the San Diego State University Theatre Department’s production of Zombie Prom. Running Oct. 19-31, this musical is a “rockin’ sci-fi send-up of teenage monster movies.” Set in the nuclear 1950s at Enrico Fermi High School, girl meets boy, girl loses boy, girl gets zombie! Zombie Prom is a giddy, ghoulish, high-energy rock ‘n’ roll blast to the past, with fun for the whole nuclear family! Follow the Yellow Brick Road: The San Diego Young Positives group presents “Follow the Yellow Brick Road to the Emerald City,” a fund-raiser for the organization. The fun will take place at Martinis Above Fourth starting at 7 p.m. The organizers have arranged a fantastic line-up of talented performers to entertain the crowd, along with an opportunity drawing that includes prizes from local businesses such as Tan Line, Lips, Puppy Productions, Partylite, Estefan Gargost Art, Flicks and many others. There will also be a special live performance by the duo of vocalist Oscar Arroyo, and pianist Joseph Mitchell, who will illuminate the audience with an uplifting, heartfelt and powerful show. Front Runners: Front Runners & Walkers San Diego is a running and walking club for lesbians, gay men, their families, and friends. The group provides a number of walking, running, and fitness activities, as well as occasional social events. The group meets every Monday and Wednesday in Balboa Park for early evening runs of three to six miles, and walks of two to three miles. L.U.S.T.: That sexy chick you met last year is now a hunky guy and being attracted to him makes you ponder your own sexual orientation. In this workshop the discussion will focus on transgender dating, what to expect, how to cope with a transitioning partner and breaking down myths and stereotypes. Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony: For the first time ever, husband and wife Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony will tour together! The duo will perform in the Cox Arena at Aztec Bowl. While each performer will play individual sets, they will perform a few numbers together in English and Spanish. A dollar from each ticket sold will be donated to ING Run for Something Better, a children’s fitness and healthy lifestyle program. 50 and Better trip to Harrah’s: Are you 50 and Better? If that describes you, The Center’s Senior Services program invites you to join it for a trip to Harrah’s Casino. Participants will meet at The Center at 11 a.m., and board a free Harrah’s Shuttle Bus at Park Boulevard and University Avenue at 11:15 a.m. The return bus will leave Harrah’s at 6 p.m. and should arrive at Park and University by 8 p.m. Those attending are encouraged to pack a lunch, or bring money to buy a meal at one of the restaurants located at Harrah’s. Haunted Trail: San Diego’s Haunted Trail is “no walk in the park.” Billed as one of San Diego’s scariest haunted attractions, the outdoor walk takes participants on a spooky journey through a wooded area of Balboa Park. The Trail is created by the producers of San Diego’s legendary Haunted Hotel, so visitors are guaranteed a creepy experience. The Haunted Trail is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 7 p.m. to midnight, and Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 7-11 p.m. Additionally, the trail will be open on Mon., Oct. 29 and Tues., Oct. 30 from 7-11 p.m. Tickets are $13.99.
