There are more than 300 independently owned Powerhouse Gym & Fitness Center’s worldwide. In March 2006, Justin Klevan became the operations business partner of the Hillcrest location, which has been open since the year 2000.

“Since then we have made many changes including adding air conditioning, some additional equipment, classes in yoga, abs and a new ‘fuel’ class,” Klevan said, noting they have even added more certified trainers.

Klevan, who has been involved in the health and fitness industry for more than 35 years, has also personally maintained a 40 minute workout program three times a week for the past 27 years.

His background in fitness training, nutrition, aerobics, massage, herbalogy, martial arts and club management and development has allowed him the chance to develop a gym unlike most fitness clubs.

“It is more important to make it a comfortable process, knowing that most people find it difficult to take that initial step of joining a gym or are ashamed of their current fitness level, and I recognize it took a lot of courage to get them in the door. I would rather make you comfortable then take advantage of the situation, even if I might lose some prospective members to some other gym’s high pressure sales tactics,” he said.

“Unlike most gyms you can train with any of 15 certified trainers even without a membership and we will honor any gyms monthly dues or renewal rate,” Klevan boasted.

Powerhouse Gym also offers 25-60 percent discounted memberships, as well as in many cases free memberships to those people that have health insurance programs with most of the large insurance companies.
