San Diego Arts Festival: The 5th Annual San Diego Arts Festival returns to the San Diego Convention Center Nov. 23-25. The festival features 200 of America’s best contemporary craftspeople and fine artists offering 15,000 original works. The event has become not only the premier art and craft show in San Diego, but is also developing into one of the top art festivals in the country. In addition to visual art, the festival features continuous live main stage entertainment including jazz, blues and world-music groups. Tickets are free for children under 12, $7 for seniors, and $8 for adults. The San Diego Convention Center is located at 111 West Harbor Dr. in Downtown. www.americanartfestivals.com

Butch/Femme Social: The San Diego Butch/Femme Social group was founded to provide all who embrace butch, stone butch, transgender butch, FTM, MTF, femme and stone femme identities with on-going opportunities to participate in the strengthening of both the community and personal relationships. The group plans socials, events and gatherings and is a great way for both couples and singles to meet others. The November social meeting will be held on Nov. 24 at The Rubber Rose from 6-7 p.m. The Rubber Rose is located at 3812 Ray St. in North Park. 619-241-3779.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas: San Diego’s premiere holiday event, Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, is back at the Old Globe for another incredible year! The 10th anniversary production will feature a number of major revisions, including three new songs, a redesigned costume for the Grinch, and many fun changes to the book of this beloved musical. Also, the theater will host its second annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Sunday, Nov. 25 at 6 p.m. on the Globe Plaza. Continuing the tradition that began last year, the ceremony will kick off the holiday season in conjunction with the presentation of Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The production will run through Dec. 30. Tickets range from $31-$59. The Old Globe is located at 1363 Old Globe Way in Balboa Park. www.oldglobe.org
Hillcrest Farmers Market: A popular San Diego tradition for more than 10 years, the Hillcrest Farmers Market is a great way to start a Sunday morning. A number of vendors selling fresh produce, baked goods, crafts, apparel, home-furnishings and more make this farmers market one of the most popular in town. Sponsored by the Hillcrest Business Association since 1997, this weekly outdoor marketplace is a member of the California Federation of Certified Farmers Markets. The Hillcrest Farmers Market takes place every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine, near the DMV on Normal Street at Lincoln Avenue. 619-299-3330

Women’s Country Western Dance: All women are invited to attend a free country western dance class at The Center. Beginners are encouraged to attend, and it is not necessary to bring a partner. Lee from Kickers will introduce participants to spins and turns using two-step and waltz rhythms. Attendees should wear comfortable clothes and leather or leather-like soles. Music Appreciation Group: The Center’s 50 and Better Club will extend its brief survey of the Romantic Era with a sampling of Italian and German opera, including the superstars of the time, Verdi and Wagner. The group will be hosted by Alan DesRoches. The workshop will go from 2-3 p.m. in the auditorium of the San Diego LGBT Community Center. Siren: Siren is a women’s open mic with a mission to provide a safe space for women to support and inspire one another via creative arts. All forms of expression on the mic are welcome including spoken word, music, dance, drag, comedy, and activism. Everyone is welcome to attend and support, although the mic is reserved for women. Sign-ups begin at 7:30 p.m., with the show starting at 8 p.m. Siren is held on the fourth Wednesday of every month at The Rubber Rose. A $3-$5 donation is welcome. Leather Skate Night: The San Diego leather community is hosting a Leather Skate Night at Skateworld. The social event is being organized to foster a non-threatening environment for people who are shy or curious to meet others in a safe, non-alcoholic, non-play environment. All backgrounds are invited, and attendees do not have to identify as “leather.” The $10 cover includes skate rental, two hours private rink time with a DJ playing classics from the 1970s and ‘80s, and a full seating area.
