Dear Editor:

Nicole can best be described as a bigot enabler. He supports candidates who oppose equal rights, candidates that decide which way to vote on issues based on which way gets them the most votes. They have little concern about right or wrong, just what will get them in office or keep them in office. Councilmembers Kevin Faulconer, Tony Young and Brian Maienschein made no attempt to justify their actions at the council meeting when they voted against marriage equality.

Nicole, who endorsed all three, is now trying to convince us that he supported them because of Latino issues. Bigot are bigots and only support issues important to others unless they personally benefit from it.

I suggest that we give Nicole’s absurd endorsements the weight that they deserve when voting.

Dear Editor Nicole:

There’s sadness when ignorance is ignored. I can’t remember a time when a journalist whined so much.

We can stop bashing Nicole by stop reading his lame opinions.

If there’s an outpour of negative feedback he may want to get a mirror and reflect on his views. Any gay male who voted for Richard Nixon is messed up from the get go.

To endorse the council position 3 so far in advance has to make one wonder if Nicole needs a vacation.

Anyway, I found it quite amusing to read about gay men reclaiming/asserting/strutting their masculinity and rejecting the “gay” label and subsequent “victim ideology” in Mr. Moody’s recent blog/article – when they seem to (perhaps unknowingly) find themselves the victim of “effeminate” forces or ideologies, as the reactionary whining and paranoia would indicate.

We’re all born as the person we’re going to be – whether we’re masculine, feminine, tall, kind, arrogant, etc. Passing blame and hogging the megaphone really misses the point, and drags us all down to a place of bullying and resentment – when will we realize that the world is not some giant pep rally or high school yearbook popularity contest?

I find recent articles on the “gender wars” tiresome and limiting, and I find faulty understandings of feminism troublesome.

For you can’t criticize and react to something you don’t understand. And emulating your oppressors does not mitigate or adequately process the oppression – though it seems to work for many, who do what is socially expedient, simply doing what they need to do in order to “fit in” (which changes from decade to decade, it seems).

Now go threaten someone with a baseball bat and look intimidating!

Still in all, though, no matter what label you men who like men slap on themselves, you’re still a homo, a fag, and all those other “irksome” things, for you’re you’re attracted to other men in North America in the year 2007, and, most importantly, you’re no better or worse than anyone because of that.

Remember that, and, for cryin’ out loud, put the megaphone down. (You’re not...everyday people...).

Dear Editor:

Mike Aguirre, the San Diego City Attorney who seeks LGBT campaign donations but wants to curtail LGBT sex, is now trying to identify causes of the widespread damages in the recent wildfires. He alleges more homes could have been saved if the city had a better brush management program. (SD Union Tribune 11/02/07) He probably believes that his office’s actions of sending undercover police officers into LGBT businesses looking for sexual activity between consenting adults may have avoided more fires. After all the hot action at the 2200 Club could have easily sparked a fire in Hillcrest and North Park. Thank goodness he recognized that priority over the objections of many who thought the police were desperately needed fighting violent street crime which is rampant in our neighborhoods. He might consider sending some of the undercover police who now work their shifts at taxpayers’ expense in the GLBT bars, hotels and bathhouses into our neighborhoods enforcing brush management.

As alleged in the Union Tribune (9/28/07) Aguirre’s erratic and ill-considered conduct has led to tens of millions of dollars in new liability for the taxpayers.

Of course if he can curtail the legal sexual activity in our community then it is money well spent. I suggest that we follow Aguirre’s evacuation plan and send him packing at the next election.
