Gavin DeGraw: Gavin DeGraw has become one of today’s premier singer-songwriters. He’s done it the old-fashioned way, on the merits of his creative abilities, perseverance and a healthy, homegrown perspective, establishing himself as a magnetic, new voice in music. DeGraw will perform many of his hits, including selections from his recently released self-titled second studio album at The Dreamcatcher Lounge inside Viejas Casino for an 8 p.m. show. DIG: The community is invited to Development In Gardening’s (DIG) second annual San Diego fund-raiser from 1-4 p.m. at Hawthorn’s Restaurant Lounge. DIG’s mission is to provide urban-based HIV/AIDS patients living in developing nations with the highest nutrition possible. DIG accomplishes this by installing vegetable gardens in HIV/AIDS hospitals and orphanages, and educating outpatients, caregivers and hospital staff about the nutritional value that urban gardens provide. The $25 suggested door donation will include live and silent auctions with local goods and African arts and crafts, light hors d’oeuvres, and a host bar from 1-2 p.m., serving Leblon Caipirinhas. George Lopez: One of the premier comedians in the entertainment industry today, George Lopez is the co-creator, writer, producer and star of the ABC network and Warner Bros. Television-produced sitcom, “George Lopez.” Lopez’s impressive resume includes a Grammy-nominated comedy album and appearances on numerous television shows, movies and talk shows. The popular Lopez has also been named one of the “top 25 most influential Hispanics in America” by Time Magazine. Lopez will perform an 8 p.m. show at the San Diego Sports Arena. The society is the world’s largest nonprofit health organization dedicated entirely to finding a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. The society has 68 chapters in the U.S. and Canada that support research, patient financial aid, education and community services. ‘Bluebonnet Court’: Set in 1944, against the backdrop of World War II and the waning days of Hollywood’s glamour era, Bluebonnet Court is a play about sex, civil rights and finding family in the most unusual places. Diversionary Theatre is proud to present this production, which was the winner of the 2007 GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Los Angeles Theatre and two NAACP awards for theatrical excellence. Bluebonnet Court also earned critical acclaim from Variety, the Los Angeles Times, The Advocate, L.A. Weekly and The Jewish Journal. Bluebonnet Court will run March 20-April 13.
