Pop Noir: All of the cool kids are going to one heck of a party at Club Pop Noir! Not only will the monthly event be celebrating its one-year anniversary, event producer Maystar will also be celebrating her birthday! Club Pop Noir is billed as an “electro ’80s nu-rave dance party” that also includes a fashion show by Grammatique and Velvet Couture. DJ Ground Floor will be spinning from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Club Pop Noir is for those 18 years and older and is held at the Static Lounge. Full bar is available for those 21 years and older. Dad’s Night Out: Family Matters invites all dads (and moms, too) to a special Dads Night Out event! From 7-9 p.m., dads will be able to meet and socialize with other dads in a comfortable environment. There will be appetizers, soft drinks and a cash bar available. There will also be an opportunity drawing benefiting The Center’s Family Matters Program. The event will take place at The Bamboo Lounge, and attendees are welcome to park their cars at The Center’s parking lot and walk over. Sapphic Cinema: Sapphic Cinema is a free movie night for LBT women at The Center. Women are invited to attend with a date, or come alone and meet someone new! The low-key event has become very popular with women who want to have a good time after a long day at work. Concessions will be available for sale, with all proceeds benefiting The Center’s Women’s Resource Center. The March 28 event will feature the film My Summer of Love. Susan Egan – The Belle of Broadway: Susan Egan has made powerful impressions in theater, film, television and music. She has starred on Broadway in Thoroughly Modern Millie, won critical acclaim as Broadway’s longest-running Sally Bowles in Cabaret, originated leading roles in Triumph of Love and State Fair, and most notably, debuted as the original Belle in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, garnering Tony Award and Drama Desk nominations as Best Actress. Egan performs from Broadway, including the shows she’s starred in, at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido on Saturday, March 29, at 8 p.m. This is a Wine & Song performance, so patrons are invited to enjoy a complimentary wine tasting starting at 7 p.m. prior to the performance. EcoCenter Open House: Come visit the EcoCenter for Alternative Fuel Education for its next open house. The EcoCenter is home of the award-winning Eco-Field Trip. Participants will learn a number of things, including the ingredients that comprise Bio-Diesel fuel, how ethanol is made, more about hybrids and what can be done to be more eco-friendly citizens. The event will also include segue demonstrations and lessons. The open house, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., is free and open to all ages. Hillcrest Wind Ensemble: The Center’s Hillcrest Wind Ensemble, a division of San Diego’s Finest City Freedom Band, will present its annual spring concert at the War Memorial Building in Balboa Park. The concert will feature “Rhapsody in Blue” with a guest piano soloist; “Red Pony” by Aaron Copland; “Pines of Rome,” “Suite Francaise,” and “Porgy and Bess.” Requested donation for the 7 p.m. show is $10. 619-692-2077.

Organ Concert: A cultural gem lies in San Diego’s “big backyard.” The Spreckels Organ Pavilion at Balboa Park is home to the largest outdoor organ in the world, and concerts are free every Sunday of the year! This week’s concert will feature San Diego’s Civic Organist, Carol Williams at 2 p.m. Concerts are sponsored by the City of San Diego Park and Recreation Department and the Spreckels Organ Society, and donations are welcome. Spring Eternal: Illestrated Visionary Crew will present Spring Eternal ’08 at the Kava Lounge. The event will include art, music and cool people. San Diego Symphony String Quartet: Following its successful debut at the San Diego Museum of Art, the San Diego Symphony String Quartet returns with a program for harp and string quartet of Danses: Sacre et Profane by Débussy, String Trio by Beethoven, and String Quartet by Débussy, performed in the intimate Hibben Gallery at The San Diego Museum of Art.
