FilmOut San Diego: FilmOut San Diego is celebrating 10 years of excellence in GLBT entertainment in San Diego. This year’s festival will screen 72 GLBT-themed films from April 11-17. A variety of genres will be represented including comedy, drama, thriller, science fiction and horror. The week-long festival will also include after parties at various venues throughout town. Tickets for individual films are $10, with the exception of opening night which is $35 and includes access to the opening night after party at Top of the Park. VIP All Access passes, as well as other special ticket packages, are also available. Tickets can be purchased at Obelisk Bookstore or online. 33 Variations: Written and directed by one of the most produced playwrights today, Moisés Kaufman, 33 Variations is a feast for the senses and the spirit. The story of Beethoven’s fascination with a trivial waltz and the modern-day musicologist who sets out to discover the root of his obsession makes its West Coast premiere at the La Jolla Playhouse. Beethoven’s indisputable genius and humanity come to life in this remarkable production featuring onstage music performed by pianist Diane Walsh. 33 Variations is playing through May 4, with various showtimes and ticket prices. House Party: Remember your college days – toga parties, beer pong and lots of sexy boys and girls? Those days can be relived every Friday night at the Brass Rail as Hotch presents House Party. Starting at 9 p.m., the evening includes go-go boys, drink specials, a beer and jungle juice pong tournament and other special surprises. Ray at Night: The North Park community is becoming one of San Diego’s premier arts and culture districts. With a number of galleries, theaters and fashion venues cropping up, it certainly is the place to be! San Diego’s longest running art walk, Ray at Night, takes place on the second Saturday of each month from 6-9 p.m. throughout the North Park Arts District, with the center of it all happening along Ray Street between University Avenue and North Park Way. A number of galleries, shops, performance spaces and restaurants stay open late to show off their works. www.rayatnight.com
Dreamguys: The San Diego Men’s Chorus (SDMC) is presenting a tribute to boy bands and Broadway babes with its special Dreamguys show. The show, which will be performed one night only, begins at 8 p.m. in the magnificent Balboa Theatre. The “American Idol” sensation and star of Rent on Broadway Frenchie Davis will be the featured performer at the show. A post-concert reception and cast party will be held at the U.S. Grant Hotel immediately following the show. Guests will be able to support the SDMC, meet Frenchie Davis and experience the opulence of the freshly renovated U.S. Grant Hotel while enjoying wine and light hors d’oeuvres. Tickets for the show range from $32-$42 and can be purchased online. Tickets for the after party are required and will be sold at the show. Heart and Soul: Think fast, all you crazy cats and hip chicks! The Gay Men’s Chorus of San Diego will be presenting a hip and hilarious trip down Memory Lane in its Heart and Soul: Music of the 50’s concert. The chorus will perform popular songs by classic artists such as Perry Como, Nat “King” Cole, Doris Day, Patti Page, Della Reese, Kay Starr, the Everly Brothers, the Four Lads, Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry and others. The concert, which will be held on April 12 at 8 p.m. and April 13 at 2 p.m., will feature a combination of singing, choreography and costumes. Tickets range from $30-$35. The show will be performed at the David & Dorothea Garfield Theatre at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center located at 4126 Executive Dr. in La Jolla. www.gmcsd.com
Hillcrest Comedy: Stand-up comedy invades Hillcrest! Hillcrest Comedy, which spotlights local stand-up talent, holds a show inside the beautiful Bamboo Lounge on the second Sunday of every month. Different comedians who will keep the audience laughing all night long appear each month. Patrons have the option of drinking and dining at the venue. This month’s headline performer is Vicki Barbolak from Nickelodeon’s “America’s Funniest Mom.” Cover charge is $3 for the 8 p.m. show. Athenaeum Mini-Concert: The Athenaeum Music & Arts Library, located in the heart of La Jolla, is one of only 17 nonprofit, membership libraries in the United States. This rare cultural institution offers a depth and accessibility of resources and programs found nowhere else in the region. For the past 35 years, Athenaeum San Diego has hosted free, public Mini-Concerts at the Lyceum Theatre from fall through spring. The noon concert on Monday, April 14 will feature solo guitarist Colin McAllister. Audience members are encouraged to pack their own lunch for the concert. The Lyceum Theatre is located on the street level of Horton Plaza in downtown San Diego. Validated parking is available. www.ljathenaeum.org

Eddie Vedder: Eddie Vedder reluctantly became a celebrity and an alt-rock spokesman when his band, Pearl Jam, hit the big time in the early-90s. Vedder’s tumultuous home life as a youngster growing up in Chicago and San Diego turned him on to surfing and rock music. The talented vocalist, who also has a flair for the guitar and other instruments, now spends his time involving himself with various political causes and performing. Vedder will perform 8 p.m. shows at Spreckels Theatre on April 15 and 16 with special guest Liam Finn. Tickets are $67.75.
