Step into Mediterranean Café, and you’ll feel like your in a cozy sidewalk café in Mykonos.
“Oh sure, you can get a pita and fries,” said the restaurant owner Fred Laleh, who has been operating Mediterranean Café in this location for 12 years.
“But Mediterranean Café is so much more,” he said, noting the vegetarian dishes such as the spinach roll in lavash are a delight for the palette.
According to Laleh, the shish kabobs are created out of an old family recipe, direct from the Greek Islands.
Having traveled the world extensively, Laleh saw an opportunity to offer casual dining at affordable prices right here in the heart of San Diego’s uptown communities. A house favorite is the gyros pizza, which has been satisfying tummy cravings on both sides of the Mediterranean for years. Laleh noted that the Mediterranean Café will even cater your next party and he only uses the freshest ingredients always.
Laleh invites anyone strolling along Washington Boulevard who would like a falafel fix to step into Mediterranean Café and around the world. Or if you are in a hurry you can check the Web site for a full menu an call your order in a head of time.
Laleh said to make sure you tell him you read about his restaurant in the Gay & Lesbian Times!
