Club X Meet & Greet: Club X, Inc. is San Diego’s largest pansexual leather/BDSM fetish group whose primary goal is education and whose secondary goals are activism and social activities. The group will host its monthly meet and greet social at 8 p.m. at Starbucks in the Uptown District Shopping Center (formerly Dietrich’s). East Village Farmers Market: San Diego’s newest and most eclectic farmers market is now open in Downtown’s East Village neighborhood. Every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., The East Village Farmers Market features one of the best and freshest selections of fruits and vegetables in town, in addition to an assortment of general merchandise. Arts & Crafts: If you love creating art with your children but hate the mess, or are looking for a place to meet other parents and their kids, then Family Matters at The Center has an activity just for you! A series of arts and crafts workshops for parents and kids will be held each Saturday in June from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at The Center. A suggested donation of $12 per parent and child is requested. Another $5 donation is requested for each additional child. Supplies and space will be provided. RSVPs are necessary for the workshops. White Trash Prom: Baja Betty’s invites you to “git’ out yer Sunday best, pick that mullet and tease up yer back-comed “hair don’t’” and head to the third annual White Trash Prom. The third time’s a charm and this year’s event promises to be even more tragically fabulous than the previous two. Guests are encouraged to come “dressed to un-impress in yer finest prom attire.” Betty’s says that “beer drinkin’, shot sippin’, and chaw dippin’” are strongly encouraged. The evening will include drink and shot specials, giveaways, and a “White Trash Boo-Fay” (buffet). Fiesta del Sol: The Belly Up Tavern and City of Solana Beach present the 29th annual Fiesta del Sol – known as one of San Diego’s premier summer kick-off music festivals. The weekend-long event, headlined by The Romantics, and The English Beat, will feature more than 16 musical acts at the renovated Fletcher Cove beach park. More than 50,000 people are expected to attend the all ages festival. Fiesta del Sol will also include an international food court, beer garden for those 21 years and older, activities for children, arts and crafts, and informational, retail and business booths from 9 am to 7 pm. South Bay Pride Pool Party: South Bay Alliance is hosting a pool party and social mixer from 1-5 p.m. at a private home in Chula Vista. The event will be a fund-raiser for South Bay Pride 2008, which is organized by the group. Sodas will be provided, but guests should bring their own alcoholic drinks and a dish to share. A donation of $5 will be collected at the door. Information about the South Bay Pride event, along with vendor and sponsorship opportunities will also be available at the pool party. This will be a great opportunity for GLBT residents and friends in the South Bay to enjoy a beautiful afternoon in the sun! Hillcrest Comedy: Stand-up comedy invades Hillcrest! Hillcrest Comedy, which spotlights local stand-up talent, holds a show inside the beautiful Bamboo Lounge on the second Sunday of every month with different comedians appearing each time. Patrons have the option of drinking and dining at the venue. This month’s headline performer is Robert Lariviere of the Comedy Store. Cover is $3. Erykah Badu: Part southern girl, part Native American, the colors and textures of Erykah Badu’s voice invoke no comparisons. Her debut album, Baduizm now considered a landmark for R&B music, has gone platinum five times and she has been nominated for five Grammys. Joining Badu on stage on June 10 will be Def Jam recording artists The Roots, a Philadelphia group paved the way for live rap, building on Stetsasonic’s “hip-hop band” philosophy of the mid-’80s by focusing on live instrumentation at their concerts and in the studio. The Roots’ live shows are considered to be among the best in the business. The 7 p.m. show will be held at Humphrey’s Concerts by the Bay. Mainly Mozart: The 20th annual Mainly Mozart Festival will take place June 10-21 at the magnificent Balboa Theatre. The festival includes the largest assemblage of concertmasters and principal players from the nation’s leading orchestras in North America celebrating the work, music, and life of Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart. The week-long event will include concerts, family concerts, discussions, parties, and educational sessions. Ticket prices and concert times vary for each individual event.
