Letters to the Editor

“Brandon [Tate] needs the support of this community. He has been politically active in many community issues already and has a promising career in front of him. What he doesn’t need is the mean old queen putting him down just because he is campaign manager for Stephen Whitburn.”
Dear Editor:
I usually find Nicole’s vicious attacks on people amusing given his own lifetime of non-achievement, but I do take exception to his attempt this week to denigrate a young and productive member of the community for his own purposes. He gratuitously notes that Brandon Tate “did worst finishing nearly last” in his district for the Democratic Central District committee.
Brandon needs the support of this community. He arrived here two years ago as a transplant from Louisiana and a victim of hurricane Katrina. He has been politically active in many community issues already and has a promising career in front of him.
What he doesn’t need is the mean old queen putting him down just because he is campaign manager for Stephen Whitburn.
You should be ashamed of yourself Nicole.

“It is my understanding, directly from Judge Goldsmith on another matter, that he is not allowed to voice an opinion on any legal matter while he is on the bench – no exceptions.”
Dear Editor:
It is my understanding, directly from Judge Goldsmith on another matter, that he is not allowed to voice an opinion on any legal matter while he is on the bench —- no exceptions. Thus, he has to be very circumspect to make certain that, any opinion he does make, cannot be interpreted as a legal opinion.
Pillaring him in GLT, for his refusal to deliver an opinion on an issue of interest to you, deserves a public apology in your next issue.

“As a major gay publication in San Diego, I hope you share my feelings of educating your readers as to who this group is and how they determine their recommendations for us in the LGBT community.”
Dear Editor:
As we approach the upcoming election season, there will almost certainly be many ads in your publication encouraging us to vote for various candidates.
I am still a relative newcomer to San Diego. While I applaud your political coverage of our community, I have been somewhat perplexed by past ads from the “LGBT Votes” group. Who exactly is this group you accept ads from? Do they have meetings? Are they a organized political group or are they simply a PAC (political action committee)?
As a major gay publication in San Diego, I hope you share my feelings of educating your readers as to who this group is and how they determine their recommendations for us in the LGBT community.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
