Thank you to all the sexy men who showed up to the BigMuscle.com “Backroom Reloaded” party at Bourbon Street a couple of weeks ago. There’s nothing that gets the hot juices flowing like a room full of exceptionally hot men in leather, shirtless or both. The guys from UrbanBody Gym and Grey Rose Productions/JakeMitchell.com are always there to do their part too. With Mr. San Diego Leathers Sidney McFadden and Lee Butler at the door and your contributions we raised close to $500 for the Stonewall Citizen’s Patrol. That money will be used to buy gas cards for their drivers who patrol the area’s bar neighborhoods to keep us safe. The next Backroom Reloaded will be June 28 so mark your calendars now and get out your leathers or prepare to show off your chests.

Big Tom’s “Fresh” parties – all about the men and the music – are back and bumping every second Saturday of the month at Bacchus House! Joining amazing local DJs will be some of the “freshest” DJs from outside San Diego to bring a different vibe to the dance floor – different energy, different beats and certainly a different sound. “Manly” men will be up on the boxes to inspire the “manly” men on the dance floor to drop their inhibitions. Kick-off night is Saturday, June 14 with Ft. Lauderdale DJ Lydia Prim spinning.

On Sunday, June 15 head over to the Redwing Bar to chill with the “manly” men of Maximus cigar club. It’s Father’s Day and there’ll be enough cigar smoking “Daddies” to keep the boys’ mouths occupied for hours. You don’t have to smoke, but if you’re a smoking virgin and just wanna live your cigar fantasy, cigars will be available from 2-6 p.m. San Diego bootblack, Curtis, will be offering his services to make the hot ash fantasy complete.

If you’re heading to L.A. but had your fill of L.A. queens last weekend and want to go where the real men are, then you need to be at “Tom’s Bar” at the Faultline on Sunday, June 15. Tom’s Bar is a Tom of Finland parking lot party with “hot men, hot dogs, stiff drinks.” There’s also live music and lots of games. I can’t tell you in print everything that goes on there but you won’t be disappointed. It’s rumored that one of these Tom’s Bar parties will be happening at Bourbon Street’s Backroom Reloaded in August so, again, mark your calendars for August 30. Yes, we know its Labor Day weekend but we’re telling you in advance so stay in San Diego that weekend, dammit!

With everything happening in San Diego these days, we gotta remember that we can go out without there being a special event. Many of the bars have “theme nights” including the San Diego Eagle. The third Thursday of each month is a Red Hanky Social Beer Bust. Caution: don’t wear a red hanky into a leather or Levi’s bar if you don’t know what it means. If you have a runny nose or want to cover up your hole … that’s in the back of your pants, stick with a blue hanky – almost any shade of blue is fairly vanilla. Get on the Eagle Web site (www.sandiegoeagle.com) for more of its “theme nights” along with the other bars in town.

June 21 is another L.L. Bear. We have to congratulate the management and staff of Rich’s for keeping this night going and improving the music. Now ya’ll are complaining about the twinks and twinkettes (the new fag hag) who are crashing the night. They all started going when you all stopped, so if you’re man or bear enough you’d better take it back before its all flip flops and crocs. The only way to take it back is to go … so I’ll see you there!

Pleasures & Treasures is celebrating its second anniversary the month of June. Our little leather store is growing up and is offering a 10 percent discount on all clothing. Former Mr. San Diego Leather, Mark O’Keefe, is the artist this month. He has created a piece of art called “Heart of the Community” which will be part of a silent auction with proceeds donated to Club X. As you may or may not know, Club X sponsors educational workshops, socials, play events etc., here in San Diego and is one of the oldest pansexual S/m organizations in the country.
