“It is more surprising that Clear Channel Communications, which owns 94.1 and six other radio stations in town, would miss the point that exclusionary promotions are unwise.”
Dear Editor:
On August 22 Jeff and Jer of radio station “Star 94.1” will be holding their Thank You Party at the Manchester Grand Hyatt. This party is to thank “all” of their loyal listeners for 20 years of employment in San Diego radio. They have consistently been one of the top rated shows in the morning drive time, so it is unfortunate that they have chosen this venue. It is clear that the GLBT community is not on their gratitude list.
It is more surprising that Clear Channel Communications, which owns 94.1 and six other radio stations in town, would miss the point that exclusionary promotions are unwise. My soon-to-be-husband and I will not be tuning into this “Show-gram” anytime soon. We need to remember who our friends are.

“Both Todd Gloria and Stephen Whitburn possess the talents, intelligence and experience necessary to make government function effectively and efficiency.”
Dear Editor,
The City of San Diego is fortunate to have two well-qualified progressive candidates running for City Council in District 3. Both Todd Gloria and Stephen Whitburn possess the talents, intelligence and experience necessary to make government function effectively and efficiency.
Todd, a longtime city resident, has been on the staff of Congressmember Susan Davis for many years. During that time he has earned a reputation as an expert on neighborhoods who has a bipartisan relationship with many office holders.
Stephen, a longtime community activist and an avowed feminist, has been endorsed by the San Diego County NOW Chapter PAC and by the San Diego County Democratic Party. He is supported by City Councilmember Donna Frye, who share is concern about open government.
Our city cannot lose with either of these candidates. I am therefore making a personal joint endorsement of both Todd Gloria and Stephen Whitburn for the Third District of the San Diego City Council.
Gloria Johnson
