Gary Gilmore Goldsmith is a jewelry store specializing in custom designed, one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted jewelry. The full-service store, located in the heart of Ocean Beach, has been in business since 1978 and offers custom goldsmith, jewelry repair, watch repair, engraving and appraisals.

Gilmore has been working with metal and stones since the early 1970s when he was a member of the craftsman guild in Ocean Beach doing leather work. Some of the other craftspeople were working in jewelry and Gilmore became interested in the work they were doing and offered to do the repairs. Armed with a jewelry repair manual and a torch he began to learn how jewelry was made. His efforts paid off. He gradually gave up leather work and began to work in jewelry full time. He enjoys working with clients to discern their ideas about the project, doing artist renderings of the design and carving the model which will be cast and finished. His job is truly a labor of love.

“We strive to have a variety of jewelry designers that compliment our own showcase pieces,” Gilmore said. “We carry a complete line of Michael Daniels Mokume wedding bands, titanium and stainless steel bands by Jerry Spaulding and our own line of unique wedding bands.”

Gilmore also proudly displays hand-forged gold and silver jewelry by a variety of world renowned top designers.

Both Gilmore and his wife Beth are very active in the Ocean Beach Main Street Association and Gary has served on the board for the last 20 years. He also chairs the committee that works with the Ocean Beach Farmer’s Market to choose the craftspeople who display their goods in the Artist Alley at the market.
