Babycakes co-owners, Rafael Del Rio and Christopher Stavros, knew it was a perfect match when they met in March 2006.

Specializing in celebration cakes, decadent desserts, cupcakes and pastries, Babycakes’ delectable creations almost look too good to eat.

Look a little further by indulging in one of mouth watering treats and it becomes clear this is not just another bakery – there is something special about Babycakes.

“Babycakes is unique because of our amazing venue, exceptional product and fabulous staff,” said Stavros, whose 12 years experience in the hospitality field has contributed to Babycakes’ success.

He quickly points out Del Rio, however, is the genius behind the artistic masterpieces Babycakes is famous for.

A successful pastry chef for many years, Del Rio said the response from customers has been overwhelmingly positive. “We are officially the celebration destination of our community,” he said.

Nestled in a charming 1889 craftsman home in the heart of Hillcrest, Babycakes offers a warm and inviting atmosphere along with two spacious outside patios.

The venue includes a full coffee bar and also serves beer or wine to wash down delectable treats, such as quiche, chicken pie, stuffed croissants, muffins and scones.

According to the Babycakes team they are not stopping there. In the near future the dessert destination will introduce a full menu and a weekend brunch.

Partners in both business and life, Stavros and Del Rio live, work and play in the Hillcrest area. The couple said they are fortunate to have many good friends in the community who have supported their success.
