REPO! The Genetic Opera: REPO! The Genetic Opera will show at Ken Cinema in Kensington both on Friday and Saturday night at 11:55 p.m. This rock opera and movie musical starring Paris Hilton tells the story of a worldwide epidemic that encourages a biotech company to launch an organ-financing program similar in nature to a standard car loan. The repossession clause is a killer. For more information, visit www.gaylesbiantimes.com/links/1094.
GrooveLily: GrooveLily defies the boundaries of rock, folk, jazz and pop. Intelligent original songs with no shortage of wit connect lush musical textures and soaring vocals with the blazing six-string electric violin of Valerie Vigoda, the lightning-fingered piano of Brendan Milburn, and the joyful drums of Gene Lewin. With backgrounds in classical music, musical theater, jazz and rock, the three members of GrooveLily are making a new music that’s all their own. Plus, hear excerpts from their two critically acclaimed concert-musicals Striking 12 and Sleeping Beauty Wakes. GrooveLily will take the stage at The California Center for the Arts, Escondido at 8 p.m. Tickets are $37 for adults; $34 for seniors. For more information, visit www.gaylesbiantimes.com/links/1092.

You will want to sing along to selections by Alvin and the Chipmunks, Elmer Fudd, Jack Frost, and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer – not to mention Santa Claus and his whole North Pole gang. There may even be a surprise appearance, but you will have to come to the concert to find out “Who.” “Holiday Toons” also features a newly-staged full production of Tomie dePaola’s award-winning children’s story, Oliver Button is a Sissy. This story, with its messages of love and acceptance, is a perfect part of the holiday season. Tickets are $25-$50 with discounts for children, seniors, students, military and groups. This year’s parade theme is “Rock And Roll Around The Bay” with boats of all kinds judged for creative lighting, decorations and crowd-engaging fun. A highly anticipated event in the San Diego community, more than 100 vessels take to the water for the parade. Less crowded viewing areas include the north and south ends of the Embarcadero, the bayside pathway along Coronado and the waterfront park behind Seaport Village. Those planning to view the Parade of Lights from Harbor Island should arrive early as parking in the area is at a premium.

When Things Fall Apart: Lunch and learn with The 50 and Better Club from noon to 1:30 p.m. at The San Diego LGBT Community Center. When times are tough (like now), people sometimes let life circumstances harden them to the point of becoming increasingly resentful and afraid. They also have the choice to let such circumstances soften them and make them into kinder and more open people. The community is invited to join The 50 and Better Club to discover how to find more peace, no matter what’s “falling apart” in your life. Licensed psychotherapist Michael Kimmel will present the lunch and learn workshop seminar “When Things Fall Apart” at noon in the Community Resource Room of The San Diego LGBT Community Center. You don’t have to be Jewish to attend – all are welcome, but you must RSVP by Dec. 15. The Potato Pancake Party will take place at The San Diego LGBT Community Center at 8:30 p.m. For more information, visit www.gaylesbiantimes.com/links/1094.
