University Christian Church has been at its current location for its entire 102-year history. It’s one of the leading churches of the Christian Church (Dioceses of Christ) started in 1906 by Central Christian Church.

The open and affirming congregation welcomes everyone as God’s creation to share in worship.

UCC offers two services every Sunday with an informal, contemporary service at 9 a.m. and a traditional service at 11 a.m.

The congregation is involved in missions from Tijuana home building and youth trips to Appalachia and Mexicali, to work trips to the Gulf States, Honduras and Africa.

Rev. Tim Tiffany has been a minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for nearly 30 years, serving churches in Indiana, Northern California and Oregon before becoming the UCC’s senior minister in November of 2002. A graduate of UCLA and Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, Ind. Tim is a Passionate champion for the church of Jesus Christ to be radically inclusive.

He loves baseball and golf and his life partner, Ruth, who works at Grossmont Hospital. They have been married since 1968 and are the parents of two children and the grandparents of five.

UCC participates in the annual San Diego LGBT Pride festival and parade, is a supporter of Uptown Faith Community Center, and provides meeting rooms for 15 recovery programs and the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program. Additionally, three GLBT musical groups rehearse on the UCC campus.
