Three weeks ago, Maggie and Dennis Holland opened Which Wich? Superior Sandwiches on Fifth Ave in Hillcrest, the franchise’s first location in California. The Hollands had been living in Dallas, Texas, where they owned and operated several barbeque restaurants. That is, until they ate at the local Which Wich?
“We were astounded by the great taste of their wiches,” Maggie said.
Dennis also wanted to move back to sunny California – where he grew up – and thought the business already had a Southern California feel. Next thing they knew, said friends, the Hollands were off to California to start their own Which Wich?
The cornerstone of Which Wich is high-quality ingredients and variety, said Dennis. Which Wich? serves more than 51 hot wiches that customers can “customize” to their specific taste. Which Wich? also offers delicious shakes, cookies and “house chips.” The ordering system is unique. “It’s the coolest ordering system,” said Dennis. Customers fill out a brown paper bag with all the condiments they want on their wich. Another great quality of Which Wich? is its low cost. All wiches are $5.25, with the exception of “The “Wicked Wich” at $6.25.
New to the Hillcrest area, the Hollands love its bustle and bustle. They also enjoy the tranquil feel of Coronado where they now reside with their three daughters. With not even a month in business, the two are looking to get more involved in the local community. You just might see the Hollands at the next Hillcrest function. If you do, “Come and say hi,” Maggie said.”
