After working 10 years as an IT manager in the corporate world, Bill Cumley became disenchanted with its daily grind. “I wanted to control my own environment and destiny,” Cumley said. Cumley quit his corporate job and started his own business, San Diego Computer Consultants (SDCC), from home. Since then, Cumley has served hundreds of personal and small business computer users.

Lots of people come to SDCC with computers they think are unsalvageable. But “many times, the addition of computer memory and or the reinstallation of Windows can bring an old laptop or desktop back to life and up to speed,” Cumley said. SDCC carries all types of laptop memory and hardware, so most laptop upgrades can be completed in no time.

Slow computer? SDCC can fix it. If you have a computer that runs slow it may be related to an “accumulation of programs.” “You may have installed downloaded programs over the years that are still on your computer and there may also be programs you did not install that have joined your computer over the Internet,” Cumley said. SDCC can remove these unwanted programs and get you back up to speed.

Since starting SDCC, Cumley has been able to work more with the GLBT community. It’s one of the reasons he decided to start SDCC. “I am proud to own a business that is reaching out to serve the gay community,” Cumley said. Next year, Cumley will be celebrating his 30th anniversary with his partner Robert.
