Frank Arce has been a masseur since he was practically a baby. As a child, he would rub his mother’s feet to put her to sleep. As a teenager, Arce gave his mother back rubs after going through a life-threatening operation. Finally, as an adult, Arce continued to give his mother massages into her final days. Since then, Arce has been providing massage as a trained therapist.
In 2004, Arce started Light Center Massage in Hillcrest, where he provides a combination of techniques including Swedish, deep tissue, Shiatsu, Thai, lomi lomi, and foot reflexology. “My sessions usually involve a combination of most of the techniques I have studied but depend on the needs and the length of time a client wishes to spend with me,” Arce said, who also provides his services at an additional location in North Park.
Light Center Massage provides half-hour, one-hour, and two-hour sessions. Longer sessions are also available based on the client’s needs. First-time clients go through a free consultation. For Arce, the client’s input is priceless. “When you come in for your consultation, your input is invaluable. We can then design a treatment program that is specific to the client’s needs,” Arce said.
On his off time, Arce likes walking, running or bike riding in the area. Arce is also a supporter of the GLBT community. “I’ll always value a community where GLBT people can feel free,” Arce said. Arce support is primarily financial by donating to Auntie Helen’s and various GLBT friendly politicians.
