House Boi presents Michael Saltsman: House Boi hosts Michael Saltsman exhibition of paintings at 6 p.m. A San Diego native Saltsman’s art focuses on an abstract interpretation of local vistas, waves, horizons and coastlines often tinted with the bright, vibrant colors of the sun and or reflections playing on water. Immigration panel: The Community Coalition Breakfast will feature an immigration panel at the San Diego LGBT Community Center at 7:30 a.m. The panel will include Attorney Heather M. Boxeth, Estela De Los Rios, Executive Director of the Center for Social Advocacy, Andrea Guerrero, ACLU Field and Policy Director and Attorney John Richard Smith. The Community Coalition Breakfast is held the third Friday of each month to bring together fair-minded individuals to network, educate and discuss the diverse issues of concern to GLBT and allied neighbors and citizens of San Diego. The Art of Generosity: San Diego Human Dignity Foundation (SDHDF), San Diego’s GLBT Community Foundation, will publicly unveil a Book of Life, at a ceremony during its annual gala. SDHDF’s annual gala The Art of Generosity will start at Anthology at 6 p.m. All will enjoy the reception-style dining and premiere access to Anthology’s three swanky floors, cocktail lounge and patio. There will also be dancing to live music performed by Anthology’s finest band. High Style Access, general admission for $125, provides you with open seating and mingling throughout the evening. Center Stage Seating, VIP admission for $250, allows you to enjoy a reserved table designed for parties of two to 10 for the entire evening along with High Style Access. Women’s Fest: The Center’s Women’s Resource Center hosts Women’s Fest 2009 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event brings local women together for a day-long festival of workshops, live entertainment and resources for lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LBT) women. Women’s Fest 2009: Green Women, Green World will focus on empowering women to be more eco-friendly in their choices and behaviors, as well as encourage the growth of a safer, healthier women’s community. ‘Fireflies’: The Lawrence Family Jewish Center presents Fireflies: The Story of the Artists of Terezin at David and Dorothea Garfield Theatre at 8 p.m. The play focuses on artist Friedl Dicker-Brandeis, who uses her art lessons to help children imprisoned at a concentration camp in Czechoslovakia. Brandies struggles to protect the children from being transported to death camps. What transpires is the enduring strength of human love and creativity. Tickets are $11. ‘The Little Dog Laughed’: The Little Dog Laughed will be performed at the Diversionary Theater at 2 and 7 p.m. The play takes a look at the scandalous world of Hollywood celebrities. Characters include a spin-doctor agent, a rising movie star, a sexy “rent-boy” and his naïve and needy girlfriend. The Little Dog Laughed asks the question, “is there an escape from Hollywood’s glass closet or is it better to just stay locked in from the inside?” The cast features Karson St. John as the agent, Brian Mackey as the movie star, Bryan Bertone as the rent boy, and Kelly Iversen as the girlfriend. The Little Dog Laughed is written by Douglas Carter Beane and directed by Robert Barry Fleming. The play contains adult content and brief nudity. Tickets start at $29 for Thursday, Sunday and Monday performances and can be purchased online. The play runs till Sunday, May 31. Judy Chicago: The San Diego Museum of Art Rotunda hosts An Evening with Judy Chicago at 5 p.m. Author, artist and feminist, Chicago’s career spans four decades. More than one million people in 16 different venues in six countries have seen her most famous work, The Dinner Party, a monumental multimedia project symbolizing the achievements of historic women in Western civilization. Rainbow bowling: The Rainbow League will meet for bowling at Kearny Mesa Bowl at 6:30 p.m. The league is open to everyone, regardless of skill level.
