Cornelia’: The Old Globe Theatre will present “Wine Lovers Night” with its production of Cornelia. From the co-creator and executive producer of the hit HBO series “Big Love” comes an epic slice of history – from an angle you haven’t seen. Welcome to Alabama, 1970. The weather is hot, and recently divorced beauty queen Cornelia Folsom is hotter still. Cornelia has her eye set on Gov. George Wallace, and will do anything to be the next first lady of Alabama. Campaign staffers don’t trust her, and a scandal-tinged love affair is not what any politician needs. But this is the South, and there’s more than hanky-panky going on in this sweeping, provocative tale of sex, power and bare-knuckled American politics. Tickets for Wine Lovers Night plus the show are $77 to $87. Taste a variety of samples at this casual pre-show party. Includes a hosted wine bar and tasting, with a selection of cheeses and fruit. Wine Lovers Night takes place from 6:30-7:45 p.m. in the Globe’s Lower Plaza, just steps away from your theater seats. Cornelia plays through June 21. The Old Globe Theatre is located in the heart of Balboa Park. For more information or tickets, call 619-234-5623 or visit www.theoldglobe.org.
