Wine, Cheese and Chocolate Festival: Balboa Park’s Casa del Prado will host the Second Annual Wine, Cheese and Chocolate Festival at 6 p.m. The event will benefit the Women’s History Museum and Educational Center (WHMEC), which educates and inspires present and future generations about the experiences and contributions of women. The event will feature a variety of tastings from local chocolatiers, gourmet cheese shops and wine purveyors. Sue Palmer Trio, San Diego’s Queen of Boogie Woogie, will perform. Ansel Adams: Balboa Park’s Museum of Photographic Arts will host Ansel Adams: A Life’s Work from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event is a photography exhibition, featuring an overview of Adam’s work from his early years in the Sierra Nevadas and Yosemite Valley to his work in the Japanese Internment Camp at Manzanar, as well as his more well-known masterpieces. As an environmentalist and a vital member of the Sierra Club, Adam’s is a pioneer and crusader for the preservation and protection of America’s natural beauty. His photographs and images perpetuate the vital message of preservation and conservation for younger generations. The exhibition will be on display till October 4. General admission is $6 and $4 for students, seniors and military. The Museum of Photographic Arts is located at 1649 El Prado in Balboa Park, east of the main traffic circle and central fountain. ‘Pedro’: FilmOut LGBT Film Festival will screen Pedro at the Birch North Park Theatre at 8 p.m. Pedro is about the late Pedro Zamora, who appeared on MTV’s The Real World: San Francisco as an openly gay, HIV-positive Cuban-American. Zamora’s time on the show brought a face to the AIDS crisis, and U.S. President Bill Clinton credited Zamora with personalizing and humanizing those with the disease. Pedro celebrates the extraordinary life of Zamora, who, after being diagnosed HIV-positive at 17, made the courageous decision to dedicate his life to speaking out about the disease. Screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, who won an Oscar for Milk, wrote Pedro. FilmOut LGBT Film Festival takes place at the Birch North Park Theatre located at 2891 University Ave. in North Park. Quilt art: Visions Quilt Gallery presents Elizabeth Busch: A Retrospective from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Maine artist Elizabeth Busch uses layering, spatial illusion, landscape and autobiography to inform her quilt work. Busch has won many awards including Quilts Japan in 2003 and Presidents Choice at Quilt Visions in 2006. Her workshops in design and surface techniques have been featured across the nation including Haystack School of Crafts, Arrowmont School of Art, the Coupeville Arts Center and many more. Cornelia’: The Old Globe Theatre will present Cornelia at 8 p.m. From the co-creator and executive producer of the hit HBO series “Big Love” comes an epic slice of history – from an angle you haven’t seen. Welcome to Alabama, 1970. The weather is hot, and recently divorced beauty queen Cornelia Folsom is hotter still. Cornelia has her eye set on Gov.
