Hedwig and the Angry Inch’: The Rolando Theatre will host the musical, Hedwig and the Angry Inch at 6 p.m. Hedwig is an internationally ignored rock singer who has traveled from Communist Berlin and works in a restaurant band. As Hedwig performs at the restaurant, he shares his memories about growing up as a young German boy named Hansel, migrating to the United States as the fiancé of an American GI Sergeant, about his coerced and failed sex change and his bond with, and later estrangement from, rock-star Tommy Gnosis. The show will be performed on weekdays and weekends through Aug. 9. Tickets start at $32 and can be purchased over the phone, online or at the theatre box office. Jumping the Broom’: The San Diego LGBT Community Center is screening Jumping the Broom at 2 p.m. Based on the popular television series, “Noah’s Arc,” Jumping the Broom is a feature film that continues the narrative thread of the second season, with Noah and Wade preparing to get married at Martha’s Vineyard. What In The World: Write Out Loud will host What In The World at the Rolando Theater at 2 p.m. What In The World is a program of short stories from South Africa, Russia, Israel and the Caribbean. Lisa Fugard will read her own story, “Night Calls,” which is set on a game preserve in South Africa. Sean Sullivan will read Isabel Allende’s “The Little Heidelberg” and Noel Coward’s “Mad Dogs and Englishmen.” Veronica Murphy and Walter Ritter complete the cast. San Diego Women’s Chorus: The San Diego Women’s Chorus (SDWC) will perform Hear Our Song Make a Difference in the World at the Mission Hills United Church of Christ at 7:30 p.m. The concert is about how people can make a difference in our world on a personal, political and environmental level. The chorus will sing Melissa Etheridge’s “I Need to Wake Up,” John Lennon’s “Imagine,” Joni Mitchell’s “Big Yellow Taxi,” Marvin Gaye’s “Mercy Mercy Me,” Mary Chapin Carpenter’s “Why Walk When You Can Fly” and the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Spring Awakening number “The Song of Purple Summer.” Tickets are $15 for general admission and can be purchased online. Out at Petco Park: San Diego Pride hosts Out at the Park at Petco Park at 1 p.m. Out at the Park is an annual event where the GLBT community turns out for an afternoon of baseball. This year’s game will feature the San Diego Padres competing against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Out at the Park is also Padres Photo Day, which offers fans with cameras the opportunity to get photos of their favorite players, coaches and the Swinging Friar by walking on the field prior to the game. Field access will be on a first-come basis, so get there early and be sure to bring your camera. Tickets start at $19 and can be purchased online. Mainly Mozart: William Preucil, violinist, and David Deveau, on piano, will perform at the Balboa Theatre in Downtown. The concert is part of Balboa Theatre’s Mainly Mozart Festival. This year’s festival will celebrate the 19th century Russian composer Peter Llyich Tchaikovsky. Preucil and Deveau will perform Mozart’s “Violin Sonata No. 24,” Tchaikovsky’s “The White Swan,” Dvorak’s “Sonatina in G, Op. 100,” Debussy’s “Violin Sonata in G minor, L. 140” and Mendelssohn’s “Violin Sonata in F, Op. 4.” Tickets start at $10.
