When Ari Clare and Alex Wheeler conceived of the concept of House Boi, fashion and home furnishings store, he wanted to create a more personalized hands-on, no-red-tape business – something far different from regular retail. Clare’s idea came alive two years ago when he opened the store.
House Boi features more than a dozen clothing lines, including Division E, Gypsy, ROAR, Treehouse Millionaire, Retrofit Designs, Darren McNeese custom belt buckles and jewelry, Kee Gan custom hats, cuffs and jewelry, La Familia, District 81-3 and Greg Parry swimwear and underwear. Clare also brings in clothing lines exclusive to the store, such as Toronto-based swim line Skmpeez and famous Hard 8 T-shirts. “We try to bring in new merchandise every couple weeks, thus there’s a fresh product assortment on every visit in,” Clare said.
In addition to men’s clothing, House Boi carries a unique assortment of contemporary furniture and sleek upholstered pieces, hip lamps, designer throw pillows, area rugs, amazing vases, sculpture, hip mod salt and pepper shakers, silver serving pieces and trays and much more.
The store recently moved. House Boi is now located in Hillcrest – between Baja Betty’s and Ichiban Sushi. House Boi is hosting a grand opening party on Friday, June 5, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the new location and all are invited. House Boi also hosts monthly events including art nights and fashion shows.
