North County LGBT Coalition to sponsor ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ Regional Conference
Published Thursday, 11-Jun-2009 in issue 1120
North County LGBT Coalition (NCLGBTC) is sponsoring the “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” Regional Conference at the Sunshine Brooks Theater in Oceanside on Thursday, June 18, at 6 p.m. The conference will be an educational forum to address whether openly gay and lesbian military service members undermine discipline and morale among its ranks. Speakers on both sides of the issue will make a brief presentation and participate in a panel discussion that includes questions from the audience. Prior to the conference, local mothers, grandmothers and volunteers will be serving homemade apple pie to all attendees and passers by to demonstrate this issue is “as American as mom and apple pie.” Invitations to this educational conference are being extended to national, state and local politicians; local military commanders; current military personnel; local veterans; and residents of San Diego and Orange County.
Cameras will only be allowed in front of the theater and in the lobby but not in the theater to ensure the privacy of the attendees. For those who do not wish to be photographed or videotaped, a separate entrance leading directly into the theater will be opened.
NCLGBTC is an open and affirming non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of asexual, bisexual, gay, inter-sex, lesbian, queer, questioning and transgender people and our supporters and allies in the north San Diego County area. NCLGBTC are committed to providing non-partisan educational programs that are designed to enlighten all attendees on issues that affect the members of our community.
