In the Pit
Boys, toys and bears… Oh my!

Plans are now being made for the first Regional California Leather Sir/boy and Community Bootblack Contest. If all goes well there should be contestants representing San Diego, Los Angeles, Palm Springs, the Bay Area, Long Beach and any other place they can get to hold a local contest. If all does not go well then anyone from anyplace in California will be eligible to compete. Sort of like a Broadway cattle call without any Equity performers. With advance planning it shouldn’t come down to that. Luckily, Mike Russell is producing the San Diego LeatherSir/boy contest so we know at least one of the areas will be successful.
What makes LeatherSir/boy different from the IML title circuit is that LeatherSir/boy represents leather men who actually have BDSm experience and skills are displayed in the “fantasy” portion of the contest. The other main difference is that one cannot compete at the International LeatherSir/boy Contest without having won a local and regional contest first. In theory, this should weed out the weaker contestants and only the best of the best will compete at the International level. If California is not able to produce local contests it will be like casting a Broadway show without an audition or call back. Obviously, the Tony Awards having been on last night is a heavy influence here but it illustrates the point. Now, just to be fair, the current International Leather Sir and boy, Sir Raul and boy bill won the 2008 International contest without the luxury of the local feeder contests. However, Sir Raul and boy bill are an exception to the rule and this should not be tried at home.
The California Leather Sir/boy Contest is scheduled to be held on the weekend of Aug. 7-9 in Long Beach, Calif. Executive producer, Mr. Mike Little – Mr. San Diego Eagle 2008 must have his reasons for taking the contest to Long Beach instead of having it in San Diego. Rumor has it that organizers are planning a party bus to take attendees from the San Diego Eagle to the contest in Long Beach. Good luck with that! Speaking of Mr. Mike Little… let’s take a second to congratulate him on competing at International Mr. Leather in Chicago during Memorial Day weekend. Last week when I was at the San Diego Eagle, boy ron could barely control himself telling me how “hot his Daddy was while on stage at the Pecs and Personality portion of IML.” Good job Mr. Mike… your boy is very proud of you.
The California Leather Sir Contest weekend will feature a meet and greet, individual contests, workshops, fantasies, avendor arena, keynote speakers breakfast, and mixers, which will make for a complete weekend package. If you need something to wear, something to play with or something to do then hit Pleasures & Treasures on University Avenue, which is celebrating its third anniversary on Monday, June 15. On that Monday, P&T will be offering specials but the entire month of June will feature, 10 percent off all on whips, floggers, paddles and vacuum pumps. Pleasures & Treasures has been so active in the community that its hard to believe this is only its third anniversary. Congratulations Bill, Tim and the rest of the crew.
The popularity of the Bear Dances at Bacchus House has now pushed Rich’s to up its game. Rich’s is the originator of the L.L. Bear Dance that attracted bears, leather men and their admirers. Luckily for the hairy and scary, masculine theme nights at other bars were created to add options for a Saturday night of bumping, grinding and sweating. Finally, Rich’s is responding with a “new and improved L.L. Bear” by bringing in well known DJs on the third Saturday for “L.L. Bear Presents.” Last month was one of the favorite DJs of the hirsute, Blaine Soileau from Dallas. This month on Saturday, June 20, “L.L. Bear presents “The Big Muscle Tour with Bill Bennett.” Bill Bennett has been spinning all over the country and is sponsored by the masculine man’s favorite Web site BigMuscle.com. Doors open at 9:30 p.m., so get there early since this night will be a hot and sweaty mess – just like we like it. Also, if you haven’t signed up for Rich’s mailing list, do so immediately at RichsSanDiego.com ’cause “L.L. Bear Presents” ads are f—king hot and can be used as stroking material.
Yep, my mind is always in the pit.
