Cesar Gonzalez, “Chulajuana,” Mama Testa Taqueria, owner/operator
Unfortunately, my hectic schedule does not permit me to have enough free time to volunteer with any particular organization; however, I try my best to do what I can. I donate gift certificates for free meals at Mama Testa to organizations, such as Stepping Stone.
What is currently your favorite eatery or lunch spot?
Super Cocina on University Avenue. They have some great Mexican food at that place. I definitely recommend stopping by for a meal.
Do you have a favorite dish from any San Diego restaurant?
I am a big fan of the chilaquiles at Super Cocina.
How often do you cook at home?
If spending all my time at the restaurant deems Mama Testa my home, then all the time.
What is your favorite dish to prepare?
Being the huge fan of TJ style hot dogs that I am, I’m always craving them. So I try to prepare them whenever I get a chance.
Do you prefer to cook with others or do you banish all human life from your kitchen?
Get the hell out of the kitchen while I’m cooking but I would love to talk during dinner.
Meat and potatoes, keep it healthy, or bring on dessert?
Meat and potatos, and bring on the healthy desert. I want to have my healthy cake and eat it too.
What is your favorite condiment?
Salt
If you were any food, what food would you be and why?
Any one of my mom’s home cooked meals because they always bring me back to my childhood.
Name three things that are always in your refrigerator/freezer:
Milk, eggs and tortillas are a must!
Name three people, living or dead, you’d most like to invite to a dinner party:
Freud for the conversation, Joaquin Sabina for the jokes and Pancho Villa for the drinks!
