Tide pools: Enjoy San Diego’s beautiful tide pools along the rocky shores of Cabrillo National Monument. Tide pools are rocky areas on the edge of an ocean that are filled with sea plants and creatures including starfish and crabs. The perfect time to see the tide pools is during low tide. Directions to the Cabrillo tide pools are the following: take the 8 freeway west, exit Rosecrans/highway 209, stay on Rosecrans, turn right onto Canon Street and turn left onto Catalina Blvd (also known as Cabrillo Memorial Drive). After you drive through the National Park booth entrance – and pay the $5 entrance fee – turn right onto Cabrillo Road, drive down and veer left into the parking lot. Women’s Drum Circle potluck and bonfire: The San Diego Women’s Drum Circle celebrates its 11th anniversary with a potluck and bonfire at Vacation Island.
