Pearl Jam with Ben Harper: Pearl Jam and Ben Harper perform at Viejas Arena at 8 p.m. Formed after the demise of previous band Mother Love Bone, Pearl Jam broke into the mainstream with its debut album, Ten in the early ’90s. The band’s ninth studio album, Backspacer, released last month, debuted at number one on the Billboard music charts. Harper is an American musician, known for his guitar-playing skills and his activism. Harper formed his current band called, Relentless7 last year and released the album, White Lies for Dark Times last May. Andy Warhol cinema: University of California, San Diego’s The Loft will screen Andy Warhol’s film shots of stars with music performed by Dean and Britta (formerly of the band Luna) at 8 p.m. Pop artist Andy Warhol settled his cool cinematic gaze on a dozen of willing subjects, including Nico, Lou Reed, Edie Sedgwick and Dennis Hopper. Dean and Britta provide music to accompany the screen tests, shot between 1964 and 1966 at Warhol’s Factory. The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later: A cast of local celebrities will present a reading of The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later at the La Jolla Playhouse at 8 p.m. In June 2008, members of Tectonic Theater Project returned to Laramie, Wyoming to explore how the town had changed in the ten years since Matthew Shepard’s murder. What they found defied their expectations. The result is a new play about how we construct our own history. This is the continuing story of an American Town. San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders, District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis, Pulitzer Prize-winner Playwright Doug Wright, among many others, will read from the work.
