Angels in America Part II: The Howard Brubeck Theatre will perform Angels in America Part II at 7:00 p.m. Angels in America focuses on the stories of two troubled couples, one gay, one straight: “word processor” Louis Ironson and his lover Prior Walter, and Mormon lawyer Joe Pitt and his wife Harper. After the funeral of Louis’s grandmother, Prior tells him that he has contracted AIDS, and Louis panics. He tries to care for Prior but soon realizes he cannot stand the strain and fear. Meanwhile, Joe is offered a job in the Justice Department by Roy Cohn, his right-wing, bigoted mentor and friend. But Harper, who is addicted to Valium and suffers anxiety and hallucinations, does not want to move to Washington. The two couples’ fates quickly become intertwined in this two-part production. The POZ Life Weekend Seminar: Life Group LA will host The POZ Life Weekend Seminar in the San Diego area at 9 a.m. The POZ Life Weekend Seminar is a place for HIV-positive men, women, youths, family members and care givers to come and be themselves, feel comforted and supported in their effort to learn how to either live a long healthy productive HIV-positive lifestyle or help someone they know and love overcome the fears associated with being HIV-positive. At turns funny and serious, part comic fantasy, part love story, the play explores how to construct a life, a sex life, and a friendship after ten years of believing you would die very soon. ‘The Hunger’: The Birch North Park Theatre will screen The Hunger at 7 p.m. The Hunger is about Miriam, a centuries-old vampire, who preys on urban club goers with her vampire lover John. When John suddenly ages and wastes away, Miriam casts her spell upon Sarah, a doctor who researches premature aging. This neo-Gothic exercise in style and atmosphere is perhaps most widely known for a lesbian sex scene involving Miriam and Sarah, played by Catherine Deneuve and Susan Sarandon. Tickets are $10.
