Oasis Dentistry is a private dental office in Mission Valley providing general dentistry to patients of all ages. Christopher Rhoades has been in practice for 11 years. He started Oasis Dentistry seven years ago after being an independent contractor for four years at an office in Tierrasanta. Understanding that dentistry is fearful for many people, the office was designed to convey a more relaxed experience through the use of soft colors and a tropical décor. Televisions with DirecTV are in every operatory as a benefit to the patient to help pass the time during treatment.

Rhoades is a native San Diegan having grown up in Tierrasanta. “I knew I wanted to be a dentist from the young age of 8 when my family moved to Tierrasanta,” Rhoades said. “One of our neighbors was an oral surgeon, and he was my inspiration, an inspiration that stuck with me growing up.”

Rhoades received a bachelor of science degree in general biology with a minor in psychology from the University of California, San Diego in 1993. He then attended dental school at the University of Michigan receiving his doctor of dental surgery degree in 1997 and pursued additional education in general dentistry at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco, finishing in 1998. After that he moved to San Diego and never plans to leave.

Rhoades has been with his partner Joshua for five years. Joshua is a graduate student at Arizona State University. “Many of my weekends are spent in Phoenix,” Rhoades said. When Joshua is in San Diego, the two love to spend time with Joshua’s five-year-old son Sam, who lives with his two moms.

Rhoades is active in church where he’s played piano at Sunday mass for 20 years. He support’s local youth sports teams, is a member of the San Diego Dental Society, the California Dental Society and the American Dental Association. On his free time, he enjoys hiking, watching college football, and, you guessed it, playing piano.
