Transgender Day of Remembrance: The San Diego LGBT Community Center will host its eighth annual San Diego Transgender Day of Remembrance at 6 p.m. The event includes a silent march, candlelight vigil and program. The silent march and candlelight vigil will start at 6 p.m. and the program will begin at 7 p.m. Participants will honor the lives of transgender people who lost their lives to anti-transgender violence. The Night Sky: The Ballet Folklorico en Aztlan will perform The Night Sky: A Revolutionary Rebozo at the Joe & Vi Jacobs Center Celebration Hall at 8 p.m. The Night Sky: A Revolutionary Rebozo is an ancestral weaving of a family’s journey from ancient times through the Mexican Revolution to the present. A multi-media dance theatre event for all generations. The Ballet Folklorico en Aztlan founded in 1967 by Herminia Enrique and family is known for its exquisite style and commitment to preserving the indigenous aspects of Mexican folklore while creating new works complementing traditional forms with contemporary dance movements. DJ Phil B: DJ Phil B will perform at Spin starting at 9:30 p.m. Phil is undoubtedly on of the top DJ’s on the US circuit today. Known in his hometown of San Francisco for his legendary performances at MASS, Aftershock and Industry, Phil’s versatility as a DJ has made him a favorite with partygoers everywhere. Organic farm tour: The San Diego Museum of Natural History is hosting a tour of Lerner Organic Farm at 10 a.m. Visit the 25-acre farm and sample seasonal fruits and vegetables. Discover the various aspects of food production and food systems, including local food, organic farming, and small-scale food production. In addition to commercial avocados, the farm maintains vegetable gardens, a diverse fruit orchard, as well as some rambunctious chickens. Bring a picnic lunch to eat on the farm. Admission is $25. Unframed: The Athenaeum School of the Arts will host Unframed, an art exhibition and holiday sale, at their University Heights studio. The one-day sale showcases works by 20 artists who have all studied with popular Atheneum teacher, Reed Caldwell. In addition to donating a percentage of their sales to the Atheneum School, the artists will be serving seasonal refreshments to all comers. San Diego Women’s Chorus: The San Diego Women’s Chorus (SDWC) will perform at the University Christian Church at 4 p.m. The San Diego Women’s Chorus is a non-audition, community-based chorus open to women of all sexual orientations, ages, ethnicities and skill levels. Reading music is a plus, not a requirement. The members of SDWC are people with a strong sense of social conscience who work to entertain and educate the LGBT community and the San Diego community at large. The music of SDWC speaks to issues as diverse as human rights, love, world peace, religious freedom, environmental harmony, inclusion and cultural diversity. Thanksgiving Day 5k Run/Walk: Father Joe’s Villages will host its annual Thanksgiving Day 5k Run/Walk at Balboa Park at 8 a.m. The course starts and finishes at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Laurel Street. Attendees receive a free continental breakfast, free beer provided by Stone Brewery and entertainment by Bill Magee Blues Band. Father Joe’s Villages is a multi-city homeless rehabilitation organization dedicated to addressing the immediate and ongoing needs of underprivileged children, families and individuals who, for various reasons, have found themselves without basic life necessities.
