In 2001, plastic surgeon Stephen M. Krant and wife Lyn Tisdale Krant started offering a free monthly “spa night” to their surgery clinic’s, called SK Clinic, breast cancer patients. The spa nights led the Krant’s to found the non-profit SK Institute, which provides free seminars on cancer related topics and therapeutic spa services to cancer patients and survivors. Together, SK Clinic and SK Sanctuary, located next door to each other, combines Stephen Krant’s cosmetic surgery practice of nearly 30 years with the soothing benefits of a medical day spa to treat reconstructive and cosmetic surgery patients.
SK Sanctuary’s spa services include peels, facials, massages, scrubs, wraps, soothing baths and makeup artistry. Twelve treatment rooms feature Vichy showers, hair, pedicure and manicure stations. A landscaped terrace offers private treatments in an outdoor retreat for clients seeking a more relaxing setting. Men, women, couples and bridal parties can enjoy a variety of SK Sanctuary spa packages. Men can enjoy exceptional facials to soothe dry, sensitive skin from daily shaving, and women can benefit from exclusive mud wraps using Moor Mud, harvested from one of only two spa lakes in the world.
With both SK Clinic and SK Sanctuary, the Krant’s offer an integrative approach that combines medical treatments and spa services in one place, allowing the spa to offer expanded services for those having Botox, non-invasive laser treatments, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, ALA/PDT treatment for acne and pre-cancerous actinic keratosis, Lipo Massage and customized pre- and post-surgery skincare. Recently, SK Sanctuary became one of just a few medical day spas in San Diego to offer the revolutionary Fraxel Re:pair laser treatment.
