Lewis Black: Comedian Lewis Black will perform at the Copley Symphony Hall at 8 p.m. Known for his three-minutes segments on “The Daily Show” where he rants about whatever is bothering him at the moment, Black’s live performances provide a cathartic release of anger and disillusionment for his audience. Black yells so they don’t have to. Black is a passionate performer who is more pissed-off optimist than mean-spirited curmudgeon and is the rare comic who can cause an audience to laugh themselves into incontinence while making compelling points about the absurdity of our world. Hawkwatch: The Wildlife Research Institute will lead a wildlife outing through Ramona’s grasslands at 9 a.m. Witness resident and winter migrations of hawks, falcons and eagles. Events include demonstrations of hawk banding and tracking eagles with transmitters. A trained biologist leads the walk. Wear hiking or walking boots. ‘Kill Bill’: The Birch North Park Theatre will screen Kill Bill at 7:30 p.m. The lead character (Uma Thurman) called The Bride, was a member of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, lead by her lover Bill. Upon realizing she was pregnant with Bill’s child, the Bride decided to escape her life as a killer. She fled to Texas, met a young man, and on the day of their wedding was gunned down by an angry and jealous Bill and his squad. Four years later, the Bride wakes from a coma and discovers her baby is gone. She, then, decides to seek revenge upon the five people who destroyed her life and killed her baby and the saga of Kill Bill begins. Tickets start at $7. Margaret Noble: Margaret Noble will perform at Sushi Performance & Visual Art in Downtown at 8 p.m. Margaret Noble started her career in the sound-arts as an electronic music DJ in the underground club community of Chicago. In 2004, she branched out from the dance fllor DJing into more experimental interests. From 2005 to 2007, she completed an MFA in sound art at the School of Art Institute of Chicago. She now performs locally and nationally as an experimental composer in solo and in collaboration with other sound and visual artists. Admission starts at $10. ‘Garbage Dreams’: The San Diego Public Library presents a preview of Garbage Dreams starting at 6:30 p.m. Directed by Mai Iskander, Garbage Dreams follows three teenage boys born into the trash trade and growing up in the world’s largest garbage village, on the outskirts of Cairo. When their community is suddenly faced with the globalization of its trade, each of the teenage boys is forced to make choices that will impact his future and the survival of his community. Sonic Youth: Sonic Youth will perform at the House of Blues at 8 p.m. Sonic Youth is an American rock band from New York City formed in 1981. The current lineup consists of Thurston Moore (vocals and guitar), Kim Gordon (vocals, bass, guitar), Lee Ranaldo (vocals and guitar), Mark Ibold (bass) and Steve Shelley (drums). Borrowing heavily from the free-form noise experimentalism of the Velvet Underground and the Stooges, and melding it with a performance art aesthetic borrowed from the New York post-punk avant-garde, Sonic Youth have redefined what noise has meant within rock and roll.
