Positive Living, Feb. 4
The San Diego LGBT Community Center’s Positive Action program is offering a comprehensive educational course for people living with HIV. The course, called Positive Living, focuses on being HIV-positive and maintaining mental, emotional, and physical health. Positive living covers a variety of topics including, medications and HIV knowledge, healthy relationships, sexual health, dealing with grief and depression, alternative health options, nutrition and doctor/patient relationships. The course will include dinner and runs for eight weeks. The first class starts on Thursday, Feb. 4, at 6 p.m. The Center is located at 3909 Centre St. in Hillcrest. Coalition for Reproductive Choice Dinner, Jan. 21
The Coalition for Reproductive Choice invites you to celebrate the thirty-seventh anniversary of Roe v. Wade at the Coalition for Reproductive Choice Dinner on Thursday, Jan. 21, at 6 p.m. Join the coalition for cocktails, dinner, an up-to-the-minute analysis of the status and prospects of a woman’s right to choose in 2010 and beyond and the presentation of the Defender of Choice award. County offers H1N1 vaccination
The San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) is offering the H1N1 mass vaccination for San Diego County residents on Friday, Jan. 15, from 3-7 p.m. at the Ronald Reagan Community Center and Saturday, Jan. 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kimball Senior Center and the Westfield Plaza Camino Real.
The vaccine is available to everyone, regardless of age. “Immunization of the community is a shared responsibility,” said San Diego County Public Health Officer Wilma Wooten. “We encourage everyone to do their part in protecting their communities, families and themselves against H1N1.”
The Ronald Reagan Community Center is located at 195 East Douglas Ave. in El Cajon; the Kimball Senior Center is located at 121 D Ave. in National City and the Westfield Plaza Camino Real is located at 2525 El Camino Real in Carlsbad.
LGBTQI and School Counselors Conference, Feb. 5-7
The Center for Excellence in School Counseling and Leadership is hosting the LGBTQUI and School Counselors Conference at the Mission Valley Hilton from Feb. 5-7. The conference includes internationally and nationally recognized speakers, a wide variety of comprehensive workshops from speakers across the nation, a benefit dinner, an exciting cultural outing, networking opportunities and much more. San Diego Wrestling Club’s 2010 Tournament, Feb. 11
The San Diego Wrestling Club (SDWC) is hosting its 2010 SDWC Freestyle Tournament at the San Diego LGBT Community Center on Sunday, Feb. 14, at 1 p.m. Online registration for the tournament is now available at www.sdwrestling.org. The tournament is the centerpiece of five days of wrestling related activities. The following is a schedule for the wrestling related events:

Meet, Greet, and Roll Wrestling Practice: Friday, Feb. 12, at 6 p.m.
Tournament Weigh-ins, Open Mat Practice and/or Freestyle Wrestling Rules and Skills Clinic: Saturday, Feb. 13, at 11 a.m.
SDWC Freestyle Wrestling Tournament: Sunday, Feb. 14, at 1 p.m.
Post tournament party and barbecue: Sunday, Feb. 14, at 6 p.m.
Beach Wrestling and Picnic at Ocean Beach (weather permitting): Monday, Feb. 15 (President’s Day), at 1 p.m.
Navigating Medicare Options, Jan 20
Insurance agent Kevin Childers will discuss Medicare insurance options during the annual Medicare election period (Jan 1 through March 31). Join Childers in the library at the San Diego LGBT Community Center for a lunchtime workshop and Q&A session. The event includes light lunchtime fare. Marriage equality rally, Jan 20
The San Diego Alliance for Marriage Equality (SAME) is hosting a rally at the Edward J. Schwartz Federal Building on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 5 p.m.
SAME is a grassroots, democratically-run organization committed to fighting for LGBT rights including marriage equality.
