Buddha For You was started 10 years ago by a man name Alfred, a wonderful person with an eye for the Buddha. Recently, Jeff Zlotnik and Maggie Lee took over the business so Alfred could retire.
Buddha For You continues to carry one of the largest selections of Buddhist statues you will ever see. You can spend two hours here and still not see everything. The store is currently running a special 50 percent off sale for the entire store.
Buddha For You has new items in stock from Nepal, Thailand, India and Tibet including, Buddhist statues, hindu statues, singing bowls, zafus (meditation cushions), thangkas, art, incense, furniture and other great gift items. The stores selection of Buddhist statues cost from $3 to $3000. The store is unique due to the quality, age and rarity of many of its statues. In addition, if there is anything customers want that the store does not carry, they can import from places all over the world. You tell them the style and they can get it for you.
Besides running Buddha For You, Zlotnik and Lee manage the Dharma Bum Temple (www.thedharmabums.org). The temple opened in 2006 as a place where people can learn about meditation and Buddhism. They run a food redistribution program out of the temple, picking up food that would otherwise be thrown away and feed the homeless. Zlotnik and Lee also founded The Meditation Initiative, providing free meditation classes to public schools, colleges, hospitals, prisons, diabetes patients, HIV patients, senior centers, veterans facilities, sober living homes and group homes for victims of domestic violence and human trafficking. The initiative helps people deal with stress and anxiety, improve focus and attention and share tools for anger management while improving overall mental and emotional health and well-being. All of the programs with The Dharma Bum Temple and The Meditation Initiative are provided free of charge. Buddha For You also offers a free introduction to Buddhism and meditation every Tuesday night at 7 p.m. ![]()
