La Jolla Fashion Film Festival: The La Jolla Fashion Film Festival (LJFFF) at the La Jolla Cove Bridge Club starts with an opening night reception at 5 p.m. The film festival will feature productions from major fashion houses and world-class directors and short films from established and emerging designers. ‘8 Femmes’: The Women’s Resource Center is screening 8 Femmes at the San Diego LGBT Community Center at 7 p.m. 8 Femmes is a 2002 French musical comedy murder-mystery film, directed by Francois Ozon and based on the play by Robert Thomas. The film is set in the 1950s in a large country residence, as a family and its servants are preparing for Christmas, when the master of the house is discovered dead in his bed, with a dagger stuck into his back. The murderer must be one of the eight women in the house at the time, and in the course of the investigations each has a tale to tell and secrets to hide. The Doctor is In: Family Health Centers of San Diego and the County of San Diego are hosting The Doctor is In at Urban Mo’s from 3-7 p.m. The Doctor is In is a syphilis testing event that features raffle prizes, a bachelor auction and drink specials. Part of the We All Test campaign, The Doctor is In is intended to reduce the number of syphilis cases among gay men in San Diego. In 2009, a gay man was diagnosed with syphilis nearly every day. Start Right, Stay Connected: Michael Scott and Patty Mangini will facilitate a workshop called Start Right, Stay Connected at The Center from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The workshop is designed for GLBT couples contemplating a long-term partnership, marriage or relationship. Better Homos & Gardens: The Diversionary Theatre will host Better Homos & Gardens at 10 a.m. There will be a daytime tour of five homes and gardens in the North Park and South Park neighborhoods from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and a Garden Party in the early evening with food, music and more from 4-7 p.m. The garden party will be held at the home of Seth Krosner and Phil Johnson in the University Heights neighborhood. Tickets for the tour and party cost $50 in advance and $65 on the day of the event. Tickets are also available for just the tour or party. Easter lilies: Hundreds of fragrant Easter lilies are on display at Botanical Building at Balboa Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Built for the 1915-16 Exposition, along with the adjacent Lily Pond, the historic building is one of the largest lath structures in the world. The Botanical Building plantings include more than 2,100 permanent plants, featuring fascinating collections of cycads, ferns, orchids, other tropical plants, and palms. The Admission is free.
