Old Globe Theatre in Balboa Park

The Old Globe is offering an alternative New Year’s celebration for the person who wants to enjoy an evening out without the loud and chaotic atmosphere of traditional New Year’s festivities.

Guests will begin to arrive at 9:00 p.m. on Dec. 31, and there will be tray-served wine available on the plaza before the show. The GrooveLily Holiday show Striking 12, a hilarious and witty modern musical retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Matchgirl, will begin at 9:45 p.m. in the Cassius Carter Centre Stage. At intermission, guests will enjoy an assortment of complimentary light buffet options and drinks from two open bars.The second half of the show will begin around 11:50 p.m. Before taking their seats in the theatre, each guest will be given champagne in a limited edition keepsake glass for them to join GrooveLily in a countdown to the New Year.

After the show, dessert and coffee will be served on the plaza. GrooveLily will be available after the show as well to discuss music and sign autographs while guests stay and chat the night away under the stars in beautiful Balboa Park. Tickets are $95.
