Pro-GLBT candidates fare well in primary election
More than 90 percent either win or face run off

The California Primary Election results have produced a mixed bag of outright winners and run-off candidates who will square off in the General Election on Nov. 2.
GLBT endorsed candidates did well in the primary election:
In the race for the State Assembly District 76, unopposed Toni Atkins (D) will run off against Ralph Denney (R) who received more than of his party’s votes.
For District 78, unopposed Marty Block (D) will run off against Rick Powell (R), and in District 79 Ben Hueso (D) will run off against Derrick Roach (R) who was unopposed.
For the nonpartisan trustee for the San Diego Unified School District Trustee Area B Kevin Beiser will run against Steve Rosen. For Trustee Area C John Beck will run against Scott Barnett.
Kevin Faulconer won outright in San Diego Council District 2, as did Tony Young in Council District 4. Whereas in District 6, Lorie Zapf faces a run off against Howard Wayne, and in District 8 David Alvarez will run off against Felipe Hueso.
For the Supervisor of the County of San Diego District 4 Ron Roberts with 48 percent of the vote will run off in November with Stephen Whitburn.
District Attorney for the County of San Diego will be Bonnie Dumanis who ran unopposed.
The new Sheriff for the County of San Diego will be Bill Gore who won more than 56 percent of the vote.
In the judicial races, the Superior Court Judge in San Diego Office 14 will be Lantz Lewis. In Office 21 it will be Robert C. Longstreth; in Office 27 it will be De Ann Salcido and in Office 34 Joel R. Wohlfeil will preside.
Finally, in the United States Representative Districts for the Democratic Party, the following candidates won: Francine Busby in District 50; Bob Filner in District 51; Susan A. Davis in District 53; and Mary Salas in District 40.
