Believe it: Continuing to emphasize its Year of the San Diego Woman in Theatre, 6th@Penn Theatre presents Will You Believe…(Monologues on the evolution of young women) Friday and Saturday at 8:00 p.m., Sunday at 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. and Monday and Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Meant for all audiences, these funny, moving and sometimes gripping monologues are performed by young female actors from San Diego. Eyes without a face: The Ken Cinema brings back the 1959 gothic horror story of a deranged plastic surgeon who lovingly reconstructs the face of his daughter using some disturbing cut-and-paste tactics. Kwanzaa celebration: Every year, the World Beat Center in Balboa Park celebrates the second day of Kwanzaa, Kujichagulia, which means self-determination. Kwanzaa is based on the concept of the harvest festival, and is practiced throughout Africa as a way for families and communities to celebrate the fruits of their year’s labor, and offer thanks. Adrenaline rush: Still lethargic from your holiday weekend? The IMAX theatre at the Reuben H. Fleet Center in Balboa Park has special holiday screenings of Adrenaline Rush: The Science of Risk now through Jan. 3. Plan that gay marriage: The San Diego Historical Society Museum in Balboa Park features Wedding Belles: Traditions and Attire, today from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The collection is gathered from over 7,000 vintage clothing items in the Society’s vaults, and features an 1848 Viennese confection and a 1950s tulle and lace explosion, along with grooms’ outfits, photographs and literature.
