San Diego Pride – San Diego Pride 2010 is here and it’s time to celebrate the two-day event on Saturday and Sunday the 17th and18th. The Parade begins on Saturday the 17th at 11 a.m. with the festival to follow from noon to 10 p.m. The festival continues on Sunday the 18th beginning at 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. The parade will begin at University and Normal Street and will end at Balboa and Upas. The festival on both days will be held at Balboa Park at 6th and Laurel. Join the community by taking part in fun, live music, and varying events while celebrating one of the most important events in the GLBT community. For more information, visit www.sdpride.org

U*NI*TY – in2U Events presents U*NI*TY, the “Only Women’s Party for San Diego Pride” on Saturday, July 17th at 8 p.m. at the True North Tavern in San Diego. Come celebrate Pride with an opening act by Rough Duchess, a hot new duo that makes visceral, bouncing music so you can get your jive on. Leela James – Leela James will be performing on Wednesday, July 21st at the Anthology in San Diego at 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. James has been an opening act for the Black Eyed Peas, Macy Gray and she lent her voice to the posthumously released Ray Charles album “Genius & Friends,” duetting with the singer on the song “Compared to What.” Her musical talents are taken from a unique brand of Soul with influences from Aretha Franklin, Mavis Staples, Gladys Knight and other iconic divas of generations past. Swallowing Poison Swallowing Poison will be playing Thursday, July 22nd at 7:30 p.m. at the Rancho Buena Vista High School in Vista located at 1601 Longhorn Drive. Swallowing Poison is a musical, rock concert, and film all in one. It follows the lives of two young girls, Johnnie Lemon and Paulie McCarty, as they launch their band, The Sovereign Sisters, into Rock History, and experience all the pratfalls and moral consequences of their journey. The all-original music of the show is performed by several prominent local musicians, including Josh and Zach Wheeler (drums and bass, respectively) of top local band Scarlet Symphony.
