Michael:
I agree with this editorial completely. I’ve been around this town now for 71 years and I’ve seen many local politicians come and then go off into the dust bin of history. Ron Roberts has been consistent in his politics, has kept his promises and has never been a buffoon like so many of our local politicians. I don’t care if a politician is straight, gay, a Democrat or a Republican. = although I very seldom vote for a Republican. What I want in a politician I vote for is honesty, not be a ;political hack, gets the job done, keeps their promises and is not a puppet for any particular political party or any particular group of political manipulators. Ron Roberts has a long track record of being fair, honest, ethical and not being anyone’s puppet.
John says:
It looked to me like DeMaio conspired with his b/f, who publishes the new, online gay publication, to attack and undermine the established and respected GL Times. If true, that’s pretty sad and pathetic.
Ron Roberts is certainly a nice guy; but he’s been there 16 years and we really need to start mixing up the political composition of the County Board to get more in line with the San Diego electorate. Our City Councilmembers term out after 8 years...Roberts has been there almost double that amount of time.
It’s time we got term limits for the Supervisors and it’s time to get new blood in the county govt. Pretty outrageous that all 5 of those seats are held by Republicans. Time for sunshine laws and sunset laws to be implemented at the county govt.
Terms limits passed by a 69-31% margin. That should tell u something about the mood of the voters.

Chuck Cotton says:
Dear Sir, as the editor or publisher of the SD Gay and Lesbian Times you have your opinions. However, you and your employee, Nicole Murray whatever, are always devisive and tend to try and dominate the San Diego Gay and Lesbian community. So what if Ron Roberts endorsed several our community’s leaders and help to give them some legitimacy. He is still a Republican and his time has come and gone. We need some Democrats on the San Diego Board of Supervisors. There are none now.
Will Rodriguez-Kennedy says:
You know Mike you have managed to put me on the fence again. On the one hand I like all your points about the race between Roberts and Whitburn, on the other hand I want to yell because you attacks on Councilmember DeMaio.
Carl DeMaio DID NOT endorse Stephen Whitburn, that is categorically false. I have spoken with Carl on this matter and I can say with absolute certainty that he did nothing of the sort.
Jonathan Hale did support Ron Roberts, which is irritating but whatever. So if you would have said that Jonathan Hale is trying to shove Whitburn down out throats I would agree with you there.
Back to Councilmember DeMaio, if there is proof of the allegations that he did make an 18,000 contribution I suggest you post that because the Ethics Committee would have been all over that if it were true. Especially since expenditures made by PACs are public knowledge.
So you are absolutely right on Whitburn, Mr. Hale is trying to shove him down the throats of the community. Which I think is a moot point anyways because Ron Roberts is going to slaughter Whitburn on November 2nd, just like Todd Gloria did, and then I hope that Whitburn decides to retire from politics gracefully.
When it comes to Carl, you are absolutely wrong, and if you have proof you should come forward of it because it sounds a lot like libel unless you have evidence.
