The BoDeans - The BoDeans will be performing at the Anthology in San Diego on Friday, August 20th at 7:30 p.m. The BoDeans are a rock and roll and roots rock band formed in Waukesha, Wisconsin in 1983, who had several rock hits in the late 1980s and early 1990s, including “Closer To Free,” the theme to the Fox drama, “Party Of Five.” Their first album, “Love & Hope & Sex & Dreams” was produced by Academy Award-winning songwriter T-Bone Burnett. In January 1987, a Rolling Stone reader poll voted them Best New American Band. The BoDeans’ 9th studio album, titled Mr. Sad Clown, was released in April, 2010. Montage Reunion – Michael Mack present Club Montage at Spin Night Club on Saturday, August 21st at 9:30 p.m. This event will play host to music by DJ Brett Henrichsen and DJ Marcel. There will also be a musical performance by Erin Hamilton, performing “Strength” live. Doors will open at 9:30 p.m. with after hours until 5 a.m. A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit the John McCusker Scholarship Fund. Cover price are $15 before 11 p.m. and $20 after. Show Queen and King 2010 Contest - The Imperial Court de San Diego will present the annual “Show Queen and King 2010 Contest” on Sunday, August 22nd . Doors will open at 6 p.m. for the event which will take place at The Flame, with the show and contest beginning at 7 p.m. Along with great entertainment, and talent and evening wear presentations by the contestants, the evening will feature a 50/50 opportunity drawing and fundraiser auctions. All proceeds from the event will benefit the charitable programs of the Imperial Court. The crowned Show Queen and King will also continue to fundraise throughout the year as part of the duties of being a title holder. Final Kiss - DangerHouse Productions presents “Final Kiss”, a classic Grand Guignol horror story from Paris. It will be showing one night only, August 23rd at 8 p.m. (doors open at 7:30 p.m.) at the venerable Swedenborg Hall (1531 Tyler Ave, 92103) in University Heights. Written in 1912, Maurice Level’s The Final Kiss is a classic Parisian short Grand Guignol play. A man, Henri, whose fiancé has horribly disfigured him by throwing sulfuric acid on his face, decides to exact terrible revenge. Witness bouts of “merry sadism” and “sexual savagery” in this tale of classic French horror that helped directly influence the modern horror film genre. The Madness of George III – The Old Globe Theatre will be showing “The Madness of George III at the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre at 8 p.m. An international theatrical sensation that was later adapted into a film and nominated for four Academy Awards, “The Madness of George III” is a masterpiece of royal intrigue by renowned playwright Alan Bennett, a Tony Award-winner for The History Boys. In the years immediately following the American Revolutionary War, this powerful play explores the majestic court of England’s King George III and his deterioration into madness and his determination to hold on to political power from those around him.
