Little Nicky
Published Thursday, 19-Aug-2010 in issue 1182
Let me introduce myself…..I am Lil’ Nicky and I am filling in for my Uncle Nicole.
This week since Nicole is sick I will be writing his column for him, let me introduce myself I am Lil’ Nicky. With all the complaining that some of you haters do on my uncle I must say it is time to get a hobby, a day job, something. Anyways a lot is going on in the gayborhoodz around California and the nation these days with Prop 8 getting deemed unconstitutional and then, do we stay or do we go? Even a young queen could get tired of this yo-yo ride! Well it is a sad time for those who wanted a husband even though I can’t for the life of me figure out why, I mean, who wants to only eat one type of cereal anyway? Boring but having equal rights and protections for those who wish to be as miserable as straight people should be able to. I am so pleased with the oh so intelligent Judge Walker along with the Governor and the Attorney General. We have made such big moves and we are headed in the right direction for equal rights for everyone in the kingdom of Queerdom and beyond!
Gossip Grill is where it’s at
I have to say that my uncle told me that there used to be a girl’s bar called Six Degrees where the lesbians in all shapes and sizes would flock to, and then it closed. Well I was never there but I can say they are flocking to Gossip Grill in the droves, honey! Every night of the week that place is packed tighter than a lesbian U-Haul on moving day and good for them. They are nice, the drinks are strong and Mo who is a community staple and would make a hot boy, might I add, is the manager. What more could you want? So if you get the chance stop in and check it out they are not boy haters over there either and offer something for everybody.
The Rally and Sit-in at the County Clerk’s Office Today
With all the rally’s for when we won I must ‘of missed the turning cars over in the streets when the stay was upheld, oh well. But today there is an event down at the County Clerk’s Office. It will start at 8am and goes until we get our rights, as in it is a Gandhi style sit in minus the whole group go up in flames, no one wants what happened to Michael Jackson to happen to them, I mean one minute you’re drinking a Pepsi then POOF! They will be GLBT who will demand to speak with the Attorney General and the Governor. Some plan to go in while others will rally outside. So if it is your cup of tea go show some support, at least they are trying to do something.
CityFest and a dunk tank and Todd Gloria
So our very own Todd Gloria could not have been a better sport getting in that dunk tank after the prospect of butch lesbians and buff leathers, drag queens and all belted him with softballs dunking him over and over. Todd took it like a champ, and it was for a very good cause, so we commend you for rolling up your sleeves and taking one for the team!
If you haven’t seen La Mission it is a must!
This is a heartfelt production from brothers Benjamin and Peter Bratt about the San Francisco neighborhood where they grew up, “La Mission”. It is about how destructive and violent the real life living in a barrio can be. It is fair and honest and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The twist is that the toughest homeboy with the worst temper in the Barrio who has the respect of all of his ‘hood has a gay son. It was worth watching twice and one not to be missed-full of sexy Latino men and a great plot.
