Letters to the Editor

Enough is Enough!
The hysteric rantings, ravings and reviews of Nicole Murray Ramirez and Frank Lechner reached their nadir with their critique of the Great Wall Chinese takeout restaurant. (GLT August 26th) No I’m not the owner. I ate there once about five years ago and became violently ill and simply never went back. The review had all the depth of a third grader “dissing” her school cafeteria; except her paper would probably have far more credibility.
Yes, the steam table does look as if it should be docked in the Tijuana River; right next to it’s counterpart Ramirez’s dressing table! I’m quite sure there isn’t much difference in odor or appearance. Mr Ramirez’s taste in fine food consists of free dinners he receives at charity events. I don’t have a vendetta against her royal highness, but the Great Wall shares a center that houses the respectable Olympic Café, New York Pizza (one of the best thin crusts in town), and the Golden Donut for great dunkers and iced coffees. I’d be loathe to see these small businesses suffer as a result of Ramirez’s and Frank Lechner’s death knell.
While we are talking death knell, let’s move on to the pitiful page devoted to “Conversations with Nicole.” I’ve been more informed and entertained by reading a nun’s obituary than anything in the “Ramirez report.” For God sake this is 2010 and Nicole would like to keep 92103 in the drag balls and disco lights of the 60’s and 70’s.
Shouldn’t the GLT be advancing more sophisticated causes? There are so many talented gay writers in San Diego that could donate so much to the GLT for probably just a byline.
You might even find a stimulating replacement for Ramirez who should become style director of the new Union Tribune and help speed their demise.
Sincerely,
Polk Parker
