Women honored for their contributions
San Diego Woman’s Club hosts dinner benefiting women at risk
Many local women in San Diego work tirelessly to make the city a better community for all. The San Diego Woman’s Club will recognize the efforts of one special woman by hosting a benefit dinner in her honor. The honoree for the evening is Sister Christina MacLean, Director of Mary’s House which is a home for victims of human trafficking.
The proceeds for the evening will benefit Women at Risk, International (WAR, Int’l). WAR was established in 2006 and currently has representation in 16 states and projects in 14 different countries around the world. The purpose behind WAR is to unite and educate women as well as children in areas of human trafficking and sexual slavery.
WAR creates circles of protection and hope around women at risk through culturally sensitive, value-added intervention projects like the AIDS Orphanage program that offers places of healing to abandoned AIDS orphans, rescued women, “throwaway” children, the abused and the exploited.
The reception and silent auction will be held Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 2557 3rd Ave, San Diego, CA 92103. Tickets cost $80 per person and $550 per table (Table of 8). The entertainment for the evening will be “A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGING,” The best of Opera and Broadway from Puccini to Lloyd Webber, performed by Hallie Neill, American Soprano, and Theodore Lambrinos, Greek American Baritone.
The San Diego Woman’s Club is a non-profit organization that is an active member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs International. The organization has many events scheduled throughout the year designed to improve the San Diego Community. To reserve seating or a table for this event you can contact Marian McLachlan at 619-265-8125.
